Virtual Printers?

Is there a way i can make a "virtual printer" that will print 1 copy of something to one printer, and generate a second copy to print to another printer... Basically, what i would like to be able to do is to print to printer "mauve" and have a copy come out on both "red" and "amber"... The idea being, that Amber has special paper in her, and red is just std white paper.

How do i do this, and how much upkeep will there be...

Thanks
Chip

I don't think I understand what you're wanting to do here. You're wanting to have several different physical printers, and everytime you print a document you want it to automatically print to multiple printers? If the only reason for this is the different paper thing, you might get more bang for your buck if you just get an additional paper tray.

I also had a little trouble understanding your request. I assume you simply want two printers to print everytime you send one print command.

Depending on how you have your printers set up, you may be able to set up a macro to do that for you. You need both printers to be connected to your machine (directly or networked). Go to Cnet and pick out a free download. You should be able to set up a hotkey to print to printer #1, change the default printer to printer #2, print again, and then change the printer back to #1. I've done similar things in the past (Win 3.1 which came with its own macro recorder). Set it to something like Ctrl-Alt-P. Then anytime you want to print to both printers you hit that combination and it is automatically done.

A manual way is to buy a printer switch. Hit print, switch to printer #2, print again, then switch back to printer #1. Unfortunately not very many new printers work well with manual switches anymore.

Edit: I corrected the link.
