Virtual notebook software?

Does anyone know of any software that will give me the appearance of a real notebook on my desktop? I'm looking for something will lines and tabs for different subjects.

I've been through a half dozen programs of what I could find on downloads.com but nothing really worked the way I wanted it to.

If you have office installed, you could use templates:

Thanks Gooberlx2! I never used onenote, but thanks to your link I can see it's exactly what I was looking for. Well I didn't need all the tool bars and stuff but it looks like I can disable some.

For note taking purposes, my understanding is that OneNote is awesome. It wasn't around when I was in school, so I wouldn't know personally.

IIRC, it's kinda like a local wiki with a bunch of Office features. I can definitely see the usefulness; such as linking back to other notes/concepts within a session's note, inserting reference media, handwriting w/ a tablet, etc...

It's definitely a product I over looked. It has the ability to have top tabs, side sub tabs, search and linking like you say. It's perfect for what I wanted to do and that's just keep track of everyday and long term tasks in a simple note pad style. I can't tell you how many hours I sunk into Word trying to make it do what this program already does
