my computer gives a low virtual memory error after I finish playing a game -

I have 312mb of ram and 32 gb free - any suggestions?

Patient - "It hurts when I move my arm like this"

Doctor - "Then don't move your arm like that"

Seriously, give us more detail:

1) OS?
2) Game in question? (Or all games?)
3) Video Card?
4) Video Driver Version?
5) Sound card?
6) Sound Card Driver Version?
7) What are your VM settings?

How could you have 312MB of memory? -_^ Closest combo I could find was 256,64 which would be 320. Unless you meant 512.

320

Min VM - 640

Max VM - 640

512

Min VM - 1024

Max VM - 1024

And so begins the great debate about virtual memory settings and the multiplier relationship to physical RAM. Some say 2, some say 1.5x, some say 2.5x, some say none or 1.5x (depending on total physical).

If it is the same game all the time that is giving you the problem, it is because the game is not releasing the memory it used when completed. This is most probably a coding issue that the author needs to fix. There are utilities around that will free this up but the easiest way is to reboot.
