Hey all,

All of a sudden I am getting this error over and over and my comp is superslow!! It keeps saying "Virtual Memory is LOW" I have scanned for all adware or spyware and deleted what was detected. I also have a celeron 2.0 with 384mb ram and Win XP...any hints on what I can do to speed things up. It never was this slow till about 3 weeks ago.

For running XP and only 384 MB of RAM, you should really consider getting more RAM. Check your page file settings though, set it to at least 400 MB maybe 500 MB (for both min and max value). Once your physical RAM fills up it will use your page file, and if your page file isn't big enough the computer will choke and complain. Seriously though, buy more RAM it's cheap. Make sure you research what type you need and that you have an available slot on the mobo.

Another thought, how many windows/apps do you have open when you get this message? Obviously the more you have open the more RAM your chewing. Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete combo, click Task Manager, go to Performance tab, and in lower right see how much available Physical Memory you have. Do this especially when you see the error it's probably near 0. Then check the PF Usage on the left middle of that screen, it's probably also very high. All these factors would say to add RAM. I'm sitting here running XP Pro and surfing, using 220 MB RAM and 209 MB page file. You start opening apps etc 384 MB fills up soon and if you page file is set too low you'll run out too fast. Hope this helps.
