i currently have dual SMP clients running with the FAHAffinityChanger in XP 32-bit
i can set up a Virtual Machine with Vista 32-bit and install a SMP client on there, will that work?

No.

Well, let me say that differently. It would be even worse production than trying to run 4 SMP clients without the VMWare on your quad.

You could try one SMP on WXP and try a second SMP in the virtual Linux environment if you are just interested in the experiment, but I think you are going to tax your resources to the point you get less overall production.

I don't think you can improve on the PPD (with windows installed) any better than 2 SMPs with the fah affinity changer.

Pure Linux with two SMPs is about 100PPD more.
