Virtual Dub - Encoding in DivX/XviD

I'm really new at this so cut me some slack. My friend and I are interested in making a WoW movie using Fraps, and VirtualDub to compress it into XviD, he got his XviD (1.0.2) a while back and I'm not able to find a link to download it, but even when I downloaded the newest version (1.0.3) and encoded my video, it was all blocky and pixelized. When I downloaded 1.0.2 and installed it, it doesn't show up in the compression type list. Any reasons why mine would be all blocky or the 1.0.2 won't show up in the list?

He's running a P4 2.4 HT and 9800Pro with 1GB Ram and I'm running an AMD64 3200+ and 800Pro with 1GB Ram also.

I'm not sure if our different settings in WoW might be causing it or not. But it seems like whenever I encode it, it turns out all choppy and his is very smooth. Any ideas?
