Virtua Fighter 5

Anyone else get this?

I just grabbed it but I'm total noob at it. Supposedly the online works great. If it's good I'll go grab the Hori arcade stick tomorrow. Want to make sure though before I fork out 60 dollars.

I'm gonna try it out when the wife gives me back the tv.

I love it, the ai is quite responsive and won't let you just dominate with one move and the gameplay is so balanced that no one character is "better" than any other taken as a whole. You have to be able to strike, defend, and throw, not just one or two. Of course I'm essentially a virtua fighter lifer so this might b a bit o a biased view.

Glad I got it then. I never played it even at the arcade but I'm psyched to learn it. I heard it is a pretty deep system.

I'm thinking about buying 360 because of this game and online play. How is the online play? Any lag? VF is all about timing and frames so I'm kind of skeptical.

I bought the Saturn for VF1 & 2, Dreamcast for VF3, PS2 for VF4 and Evolution. You can say I'm a VF nut. VF2 is what broke my SF2 addiction.

It's not an easy game to learn. It really only appeals to hardcore fighter fans. Beginners will likely get frustrated with what seems like boring gameplay.

I played the one for the PS2 like 6 or 7 years ago. I don't remember which number it was but it was fun.

Reviews say the online works good.

Damn, Virtua Fighter 5 is on sale at Amazon and BestBuy for $39.99 on the PS3. :Q I might have to get it for my 360 ($20 extra) for the XBox Live play though. 🙁

I haven't played it online yet because I would get owned. I'm trying to learn Lei Fei and I really like him. Game is a 10 so far from me.

I'd buy it, but like all fighting games, I'd love it for about 2 weeks straight then never touch it again.

I think the PS3 version got a online added via a download mode, not 100% sure though so I'll have to investigate.

If anyone was still considering getting this. Just fyi, I've experienced no noticeable lag at all while playing this online. It is very smoth and works great.

I am 0-8 though lol. I suck at this game but it is fun and I'll learn it.

yeah i want to get better at these types of games...but i just am no good! if anyone can point me in the right direction, let me know... i just booted up vf5 today

360 version

Well maybe we can play some unranked games for practice. I need to start learning a new fighter. I suck with Lei Fei. People I talked to said I should learn with Pai, Kage, Lau, or Jacky first.

man..this game is too deep for me... i have the ps3 version. A couple people I know are extremely hardcore at it and they belong to some online VF community and they host get-togethers and tourneys. Seems like a very tight-knit group of people...except a few of them are total elitists and love to shove their elitism around (american gaming community sucks! down w/ consumerism! microsoft sux! playstation controller = no. 1 no matter what! blahblah haha).

Do I have to go in there and slap them around. 🙂

I caved in and bought the game for my PS3 for $40. It's my first PS3 game. 🙂

This game rocks! I'm a huge fan of the series though. Gameplay feels like a cross between VF2 and VF4 which is great because VF2 is my favorite in the series followed closely by VF4. Graphics are awesome but I'm coming from Xbox and PS2 background so I've nothing else to compare to. But the game is so beautiful. Reminds me the first time I saw VF2 at the arcade and I spent 15 minutes just staring at the game.

Gameplay is precise, and I felt right at home. I see lot of Kage and Sarah combos from VF2 still works. I fooled around with the two new characters and liked their style.

I'm so happy with this game. It's a bummer PS3 version doesn't have netplay so I can play with some of my old school VF friends from the VF forum but it's ok for now. I need to train and learn the game.

Best extra are the fighting videos. Great show of high level VF play.

9/10 from me. Missing 1/10 because of the lack of netplay and version b for PS3.
