Virginia schools in 2020 removes the names of confederate generals. The naming of schools after confederate generals has the following history
Chandra Manning, a professor of history at Georgetown University, said the naming of schools after Confederate soldiers really took off in the 1950s after the government mandated that whites-only segregated schools accept black pupils, as a way to make black students feel unwelcome.

I guess the MAGAs won out in their effort to dismiss the feelings of black students while at the same time erasing black history.

Hey, won't someone think about the glory and legacy of racist traitors?

Not to mention, a lot of statues were put in --surely by pure coincidence---around the time of the Jim Crow laws, which makes their "historical value" a bit questionable.

Not only are we going to being back names of confederate generals used to intimidate black people, eliminate black history and wonder why we are unable to appeal to the black vote.
