A clean STi oil pan is on the way to replace this one - it'll also provide clearance for the Killer B oil pickup. I'm pleasantly surprised at the condition of the exhaust hardware- I was expecting to replace some of it, but it looks fine. New gaskets will go in after it comes apart.

I assume ViperGTS was banned and that's why he's not posting this?

Nope, not banned. He agreed to finish it up before I pick it up. He still has the car and is doing all the work so it would be hard (and pointless) for me to post this thread.

Also not driving the Viper unfortunately as its been at PSI in Portland for going on two weeks.

Fair enough, just curious. Also, what is PSI?

Is the stock transmission capable of reliably handling the power increase?
I was under the impression that the XT's transmission was a bit on the weak side.

Ahhhh, a shop I will never get to take part in :(

I am, however, going to the shop in Canada that is responsible for doing the Super Snake upgrades to the GT500's in a week or 2 to pick up parts.

Sorry, back on topic.....should be a fun little subby when all complete.

This made me look up some Subarus in my area and my god, people stack up the miles on these things like they're built from solid titanium alloy.

Damn. Don't you have to lift the motor and stuff to replace the oil pan?

Yep. I may be renting a lift for that part.

It'll only be a 20-30hp jump with a tune - it's already running a good bit more than stock. The transmission should be fine around 300whp as long as it's not abused (hard launches, flat foot shifting).

Yeah, salt sucks. I like how 20 year old SoCal cars look new when you get under them...at least from a rust perspective!

And did I miss jlee selling his FXT?

Glad I got to have a ride in it before it leaves. Very fun and dangerously deceptive "granny wagon." The only complaint I had is that the wheel well humps in the rear perfectly interfere with neatly stacking transverse rifle cases in the back ;)

Does this mean you won't have an AWD vehicle anymore? No more -godmode for you!

Nice, I'm sure it'll leave some people give some puzzled looks. :awe:

Do I sense another Tacoma in jlee's future?

Ugh. I will never live in place where it snows.

:'(

Seriously though, more often than not it seems you spend more than 50% of your time battling rust than actually working on the project itself.

There are places on my cars underneath where you can wipe off the dust and see glossy paint and factory parts number stickers :awe:

Not to keep goin OT, but in the late 90's I came really close to picking up a 66 Pontiac 2+2 that came here from AZ a few weeks earlier. I was in awe at how clean that car was compared to something that was even a few years old here. :( It wasn't a trailer queen or anything either, the guy drove it here and was asking $6,500 for it. It was a 421 tri-power with a 4-speed and the original black paint even still had a good shine - as much as the old single-stage could shine anyway. Apparently he didn't know he could of got a lot more cash up here for something in that condition, I kick myself from time to time for not picking it up.

Ok, this thread is depressing me. Hurry up with an update jlee. ;)

Haha, sorry guys - been busy.

The rest of the brake stuff came in, and everything else except the 3port BCS has been ordered and should be here next week. After running around getting a whole bunch of other stuff done, I now have some time to actually get something done on the car. I should have an update in a few hours.
