VIP Treatment

A friend from my former softball team works in the sports industry and knows people at the 49ers. He arranged four pre-game field passes for yesterday's game against the Rams for me my family.

My son was very excited and wore his 49ers uniform/Halloween costume (see below). (BTW, not all the bone-crunching was on the field. My son lost a loose tooth in a cotton candy in the second quarter (His second lost tooth in 3 days). He was able to continue (eating) through the end of the game and should not be on the injured list next week.😉 )

Have you ever received the VIP treatment at a sporting or entertainment event or other such venue?

Congrats, and nice!

I got to go down on the Husker's field and the player's lounge and weight training area a couple years ago. I'm not a Husker's fan, but I certainly appreciated the tradition and what they have accomplished as a team. It was pretty cool.

Very cool. Probably an experience your family won't forget.

I know some people who could set up some crazy VIP stuff but I never asked or inquired. It might be different if they offered.

One of my buddies use to work for a company that was a big client of title companies. Apparently, title companies have a lot of the luxury boxes at Staples Center, so I have been to quite a few games in those.

Pretty cool, but not on the field at a 49ers' game. 😉

Congratulations! Sounds like fun.

I've been friendly with some large regional bands, and niche world bands, and my daughter has gotten hooked up with free stuff, but that's about it. Nothing like major league sports, or international bands.

A partner at my old law firm has two 3rd row center ice seats to the caps. He gave them to me one night, with a couple of passes to the players lounge in the MCI center (now verizon center). Got to meet Alexander Ovechkin and impressed him with the 30 or so words of Czech that I know, about 20 of which are horrible swears.

Back in college, I played trumpet in the school marching band (yes, I was a dork). ONe year, we got to play the halftime show at Fedex field and watch the game from the sidelines.

As a kid I got to go behind the scenes at the Golden State Warriors. One of my friend's parents were friends with Clifford Ray (Warriors center) and Clifford babysat and let us in.

Long time ago and I didn't appreciate it as I would now.

There is nothing like being on the sidelines during a pro football or MLB game. I used to shoot them for various newspapers and, even though I was working and not a VIP, sometimes you just look around at the complete spectacle of the event in awe.

I've been at games where VIPs were allowed to sneak in with the photojournalists and take photos. It would always piss the media off when they got in the way, but I thought it was pretty cool to see someone enjoying the on-field experience so much.

Sounds like a wonderful shared time: dad & son! A great lifelong memory

My dad (and my brother-in-law) were there, too. Got some great shots of my dad and my son.

My family has been going to 49er games since 1946. My son is a 4th generation 49ers fan. I was really happy to be able to do this for my dad and my son.

I rode in a limo with Terry Bradshaw and Arthur Ashe, but I was just a kid and probably didn't appreciate it at the time as much as I should have.

My Dad used to have access to the luxury boxes at Ford Field and the Joe every once and awhile through work. I would prefer being on the field to that, but still pretty sweet.

If I could choose, I would want to sit courtside at Mackey or visit the Tigers dugout for a few minutes. Someday...

I saw Cream from the ABC/ESPN luxury suite at the Garden. Had seating for about 15 - 20, but we only had 7 or 8 people there. Buffet, fridges full of everything, wet bar, bathroom, Mary Jane (not provided by MSG)... made for a good night out.

I have met quite a few famous people, too. Here are some of the pictures:

I went to a Giants' game in my company's permanent box at Candlestick that's stocked with food and booze and I met Sonny Bono one... does that count?

I met Sonny Bono at his restaurant in Palm Springs in 1997.

He was not wearing a helmet.

My friends used to put thousands down at a club every weekend. I went with them once and there was a huge line as Chuck Lidell was going to be there that night and the entire Angels team. Walked right in with them. I was 14 at the time going to a 21 and over club =D
