My wife and I have a ton of old vinyl between the two of us and it tends to collect dust since it's kind of a pain to get the album out, clean it, and put it on (yes I'm kinda lazy). As I recently completed my dedicated MP3 rig, I was thinking it would be nice to rip a bunch of the vinyl over to high-bitrate MP3 and stash it on the Jukebox rig so I'd actually use it.
First off, I have the SB Live! card with the daughter card, so getting the signal from the turntable to the PC is handled. I have heard that you can get funky artifacts when going to mp3 from vinyl and also that you can use software to clean up the sound (removing the vinyl hiss and such). Can anyone point me in the right direction with this respect? Any other pointers would be great.
Thanks!
Fausto
