vintage stereo equipment and repairs - Melbourne?

G'day,

I have picked up an old Kenwood stereo from a garage sale (10 bucks). It came without speakers or a turntable and the amp (ka-35) needs repairing. I would like to know of somewhere to help me get this old beast up and pumping. I live in Lilydale, Melbourne, Australia. Also does anybody know when this model amp was manufactured?

Welcome. I would try audiokarma.org for your vintage stereo needs. I pretty handy with the stuff...but being across the Pacific doesn't help much.

Depending on your comfort/skill level, you may be able to tackle the repair yourself. Many times the repairs aren't terribly difficult, just tedious. Honestly, unless you have a sought after unit the cost of a technician will far exceed the value of the amp.
