There was a video of some rich snobs spoiled brat throwing a scared, cowering furry white cat off the third floor balcony into their pool that looked to be at least 100 feet away from the house. The cat barely made it into the pool.

After I saw that video, I will never go back there.

Abusing innocent animals for laughs is not funny.

Abusing that vicious spoiled brat would be funny.

I'm pretty sure that was a stuffed animal. Also, throwing 10 pounds over 100 feet would be incredibly hard. The distance wasn't 100 feet and he probably wasn't throwing a real cat.

It says the cat is fake in the description. There's no way a cat would be that flaccid while flying through the air. It would also make a much bigger splash in the pool. A stuffed animal, on the other hand, wouldn't exert much effort to land on its feet and it would make only a slight splash at minimal depth (much like the one in this video...).

It's at least 100 feet from the top of the balcony to the pool, easily. And there was no description on vine after it was put up. Also if you visualize the time it takes to throw something heavy AND LISTEN TO HIS BREATHING, there's just enough time to rotate his arm to throw the cat, not pick it up, drop it, then pick up another fake cat and throw it.

And I also won't take the word of some flaky internet creep who thinks it's funny to abuse animals and film it for youtube and vine.

And of course he's going to claim it's fake, or youtube would take it down and call the cops or PETA or something. The guy looks like a total smart ass on his profile pic, and pretty much what I imagined he'd look like from the voice alone.

I bet if he threw a "LOL FAKE" dog in the pool there would be a lynch mob after his ass already. But because it's a cat, there's a certain crazed segment of the population that's violent and enjoys abusing cats and seeing them abused.

It looks live to me the way it is spread out trying to get it's balance while flying through the air, and it hits the water hard. And the cat cowers like it's been abused before it's even picked up. Regardless, not funny at all.

1) Have you ever been around a cat? Most of them don't want to be picked up unless they initiated the interaction.

2) You've definitely never seen anyone throw a cat if you think that's how they look in mid-air. I throw my cats across the room all the time and they never act nonchalant about it. There's science to back this up. Their physiology is specifically tailored to landing on their bellies.

3) A cat would also make noise while flying.

4) My cats like to swim so I throw them in the pool sometimes. They sink much lower when dropped from 5 or 6 feet above the water than the cat in the video. Throwing a cat high in the air would result in WAY more depth than 6 inches, which is all that happened in the video. It's so obviously a stuffed animal unless you've literally never thrown anything in a pool.

5) There's no way that's 100 feet. Comprehension fail due to distortion and general awareness of surroundings. The pool chair is approximately 6 feet long and roughly 3 would fit on the stone porch. That puts the camera at roughly 20 feet from the edge of the pool. The pool isn't even close to 80 feet long, so even if he threw the stuffed animal to the end of the pool it wouldn't have gone 100 feet.

6) Vines very frequently employ off-camera substitutions. I watch Vines all the time and substitutions are often used for heightened situational humor. That's the concept used by the person who made this particular Vine even if you don't think this particular one is funny.

7) You've obviously never thrown anything in your entire life if you think a person can launch a 10 pound mass that far with so little effort.

Not necessarily. And you can barely even hear him breath on the crappy mic while he rotates his arm to throw the cat. And with a noise canceling phone mic, you also aren't going to hear the a terrified cat while it is flying through the air away from the mic while trying to get it's balance back. And you obviously can't hear it hit the water with a loud splash, either.

If your cats liked to swim, you wouldn't have to throw them in the pool to abuse them, would you? So that's a LIE right there. That heavy 10-15lb thrown cat went at least a foot underwater, but from the distance, it's not possible to tell exactly. But you can see it was COMPLETELY SUBMERGED. A stuffed animal would have barely splashed and floated on the surface, and it would have been a lot harder to throw a lighter stuffed animal that distance than a 10-15lb cat. Why do you think a shot put is 16lbs. Don't be ridiculous and claim otherwise.

Perhaps it is not 100 feet, as I first thought. The cat might travel 60 feet through the air. And he's not throwing from the ground, it is a curved throw from a balcony at least 20 feet off the ground and 20 feet from the edge of the pool, making the distance a pretty easy throw for the 10-15lb weight of the cat. A 2-3lb stuffed animal would barely even make it off the balcony, it would be far too light, and would probably not even make it to the lounges. And a lounge like that is longer than 6 feet. And you just said 3 would fit on the stone porch, so that's at least 18 feet right there.

That's totally a real cat and not a stuffed animal. Animal abusers!!!!

If you watch this better quality video you can actually see the water drops flying off the stuffed cat when it first enters the frame. They probably soaked it so it would be heavier.

BTW, the thread title and OP's name on the main page read like a really shitty motto. "Vine: It's not lupus."

This may be hard for you to understand, but you being incredibly wrong and stupid doesn't mean I must be abusive to my animals. I throw them into pillows and beds around the house, which they love by the way.

2) TRUE (you did a great job of defending this one, too). Cats always twist and roll to land feet first because their rib cage is specially designed to handle the impact. It's floating instead of fixed like ours. They absolutely do not fly completely limp like what's shown in the video or what you seem to think.

3) Yes, necessarily. Please find a video on the internet of a cat being picked up and thrown without making any noise. It's still irrelevant regardless of if that's actually available online somewhere, but the point remains that it's a toy, not a real cat, for a wide variety of other reasons.

4) I throw my cats in the pool because they enjoy being in it. I also throw my kids in the pool because they, too, enjoy it. I threw shot put extensively in high school and I'm completely sure by your moronic response that you didn't. I'm also a big guy and there's no way in hell I could throw a cat that far with so little effort. He didn't even have to move his feet and you think he threw a real cat that far, lol. You should try leaving your basement once in a while.

5) That's still not 60 feet. I know math must be hard for you even though I did most of the work already, but try adding 20 to half of a pool length, which is approximately 30 feet long (most pools are 30 - 32 feet) for a total flight distance of 40 feet or in the ballpark (pretty close to my initial guess of 40-50 feet...). Also, he's on the second floor of a residential structure, which is definitely not 20 feet high. The umbrella on the pool is probably 8 or 9 feet tall at the most and it's close to even with the surface of the 2nd floor deck. You seriously have no clue what you're saying or how to estimate distance. Perhaps you've never been exposed to wide angle lens distortion.

The chairs are slightly longer than 6 feet (75 to 78 inches), which is why I rounded up to 20. Try reading next time! It helps when you're trying to make a point.

6) I know enough about this video to know the cat isn't real based on observations. It's really not difficult if you're capable of estimating things even to the right order of magnitude.

7) You've thrown shot put, so you're 'familiar' with how it's done? That's what people say who've never actually done something. Also, LOL @ labored breathing. Are you fucking kidding me? That's extremely soft breathing at best. I'm now sure you've never, ever done any physical activity in your entire life if you think that's what people sound like after throwing heavy objects. The energy exerted while throwing something as heavy as a cat requires full body movement. Propelling an object that heavy over that long of a distance would require him to have fallen backward lest he violated the conservation of energy.

There are thousands of movies that we never see even on DVD because they suck so bad they don't warrant release.

It's the same way with Vines or any other social type media outlet. The masses are going to be average at best. Only a few real gems out there.

It's a 6 second buy-in. Easy enough to skip through quickly.

There are a lot of ANGRY people on ATOT it seems to be so taken back by this.

And those thinking stuffed animals are real...are scary to think they are out there gainfully employed and driving around.
 
A DVD release costs thousands of dollars, so there are fewer talentless people out there. Vine is free, so 99% of them are unwatchable.
