Viking 256MB CompactFlash Card $37.49 AR @ Amazon.com

I don't know how long ago was this but I remember seeing a few threads on Viking not paying out their rebates. It's awhile ago, anyone know if that's an issue now?

Avoid Viking rebates like the plague.

I just got off the phone with the Viking New Rochelle rebate office and they say they have no record of the $20 rebate I mailed two months ago. Isn't than convenient -- they can make $20 profit by simply throwing my rebate request in the trash! I knew their rebates were bad in advance, but here is why this whole thing bothers me. On their rebate form there is a stiplulation that if you don't complain about not getting your rebate by 4-19, which is exactly 10 weeks after the rebate expired, "all rights will expire." So if you dutifully wait the 10 weeks and call on 4-20 and they say they can't locate your rebate, you lose!

This really makes me mad as they are basically stealing from customers.

Had my UPC scotched taped to the rebate form (figured they had to read it to get my info so they would see the UPC) just in case and they said I didn't include the UPC. Wanted to fax them my info and well, they don't take copies! Grrr....

No problem with my $10 viking rebate for a CF card. It's approved and supposedly on the way.

But the price isn't so hot. Just a few weeks ago this card was $32 AR at amazon. It seems the prices on CF cards is going up and down by the day.

Registered mail people
I have heard that it is actually worse to send rebates via registered mail. I say let them pretend they lost it and then let the Attorney General of the state where they do business nail them. Companies really hate it when the state Attorney General starts sending them stuff.

I think registered mail is useless. All rebates are sent to a P.O. Box. The one and only time I sent a rebate via certified mail, they claimed they did not recieve it. So I had to resend the documents anyway, making it a waste of the extra postage. From then on I just put a 37cents stamp on everything and everything eventually comes through.
