The Viking 512 MB CompactFlash Card is $74.99 with free shipping after a $25 rebate

Amazon also has a hot deal on the Viking 1 GB CompactFlash Card (CF1GB) for $149.99 with free shipping after a $50 rebate

Amazon prices do not stay low for too long so get it while it is hot. Remember no tax in most states.

Rebates expired 11/30

So, can anyone comment on the speed & quality of these? I am definately interested in the 1Gb version at this price. I will be using it with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel D300. Is it worth paying extra for the hi-speed/Ultra versions of these CompactFlash cards for my camera?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I bought the 1GB one for my pda about four months ago. About 3 weeks ago, it died on me. I called them and they told me that I have a 2 year (or was it 5 year, I'm not sure) warranty. Sent it in and got a brand new replacement in a week. I believe the Viking 1GB cf cards are made by Toshiba and their performance is not as good as the 512MB cards (which I also have) but I was happy that they replaced the broken one without qualms. For digital cameras the calibre of Canon Rebel, I would suggest Lexar, probably the 512MB ones because the reviews for the 1GB ones aren't too hot on Amazon.

Thanks,

i would suggest the simpletech. they have a similar deal on the 512 ($74 AR), but i don't think one on the 1 gig. if you look at the reviews though (go to robgalbraith.com and click on the cf database), simpletech is pretty fast (you have to go all the way back to the d60 to find regular simpletech cards). i'd say it's a good deal for the 512. i guess the viking is a bit cheaper for the 1 gig ($200 versus $150)

Golly the rebate is due by the 15th, 2 days from now.. do you think if i ordered it today that i'd make the rebate date?

thx
