Redlinesys:

What kind of reader did you have? My gf uses the one that came with her card, on the card it says "USB enabled." The reason I remember this so well is that I upgraded her iBook to OSX and now she lost the ability to read the disk from the adapter, she has to reboot into OS9.2 to do it. Plus I had to download the drivers to get it to work, which was really wierd.
I'll find out the model number when I get back.

She has a Jumpshot. I just checked lexar's site and it seems they have new drivers up for OSX so I'm going to see if they'll work with her adapter.

<edit>
The new drivers work but only for the CF card that came with it. Tried a Toshiba and Canon (8mb one that came with my camera) CFs and neither of them were recognized. So if you have an USB->CF adapter that says "Works only with USB enabled Compact Flash" make sure it works or you have another method of accessing the CF, such as a PCMCIA adapter.

Deal dead? Amazon site is showing price of $61.95 now.

hmmm...i hope they don't call it a price mistake and cancel all our orders. I'm sure amazon probably doesn't appreciate us all using $5 off coupons that were probably not genuine for most of us.

that shouldnt be a problem. when i tried reusing it, a message said "sorry, one per customer. pass it along!" or something like that.

uh oh, does anyone have this rebate saved? i didn't save it and now it's gone! Please PM me or email if you can. Thanks!

nevermind, it's back

Can you use these w/a USB reader as a bootable? Whenever I forget to un-plug my reader, my mobo (K7S5A) gives me the option to USB boot when I start up.

I F***ING HATE IT WHEN AMAZON JACKS UP THE PRICE!

Could this be another case where Amazon changes (raises) the price for those who have use coupons or got in on big deals in the past?

Just picked it up for $49.99 - ($5 off $35) - $10 MIR = ~$35 which is still acceptable to me. Too bad I waited and Amazon "sold out" Sunday night. Woulda saved me $15. :disgust:

for the dudes who got in on it for $20 AR and later realized that they dont need/can afford/need to get rid of it let me know and i'll take it off your hands for $30 shipped. 😀

I don't think they sold out... Amazon just plain jacked up the price. The same night they jacked up the price for several other brands of compactflash cards also. I know because I was checking fairly often. BTW this card is now a ripoff at $62(Nov27 at 8:40AM). The Viking rebates from what I have read are terrible for receiving.

Its just my opinion, but Amazon seems to have gone down hill for quality of service. Their prices fluctuate too much(daily), and their "free" shipping is probably the worst of any company now(it takes forever for them to ship something).

Price fluctuations aren't always a bad thing. Regarding the free shipping being the worst, it's fine for the price. Some companies have raised the bar with free shipping, but you always have to consider you get what you pay for. It's always a given that expedited shipping will cost more.
