I am up in the air on this one. I am a hardcore Vikings fan but playing in NY on natural turf is gonna be hard for my guys. Still hoping my team will pull it out, haven't ever seen them in a SB and looking forward to it!
 
I don't know how the Giants are gonna stop Moss and Minnesota's offense. They can shut down the running game but with the slow Giant's corners, Moss and CC should have a field day. And I don't know how the Giants offense is going to keep up. I think the Vikes are going to the Bowl, but whoever they meet there will beat them. The AFC contenders have better defense and can slow Minnesota down. Especially the Ravens. I think a Minnesota/Oakland matchup would be fun to watch.
 
Well I am personally rooting for the Giants. I think they can pull it out. As far as the AFC side goes I don't really care who wins that one. I mainly like the NFC and I say go Giants.
 
Big Blue matches up well with the Vikings. The Minesota offense is good, but they have trouble against physical defenses like the Giants. Moss will have trouble with Sehorn because Sehorn will bang him and throw him off his routes. Carter will be whining all day because he also hates a lot of physical contact. They just don't play well when they face big corners like what the Giants have and when those corners are physical with them. The Giants also stop the run. Smith couldn't run the ball last week and I doubt if he'll be able to run the ball this week either. If the Giants put pressure on Culpepper which I believe they will do, it will be a long day for the Vikings. The Viking defense is poor against the run and the pass. Toomer and Hilliard will have big days against the Viking secondary. The natural grass field and playing outside will also be factor against the Vikings. The Vikings have not played outdoors since Thanksgiving. I like the Giants to control the ball and the clock as well. I think the Giants will win comfortably.
 
But classy, if the Vikes D-fence plays as well as it did the last game against the Ain'ts, I think we got a shot!
 
I think the Vikings have more than just "a shot".

Sehorn is a damn good db, but if they try to put 9 in the box to stop smith, eventually Moss is gonna burn one of those dbs. The Giants defense looked amazing yesterday, however, there is no comparing Small/Johnson to Moss/Carter. You can stop those guys for 3.5 quarters and then they can torch your for 3 quick ones. I personally h8 Randy Moss (except when I'm playing NFL2k1 and he's my main target😉) but he is an awesome receiver.

Myself, I'm more concerned with the point spread. Opened at NY+1.5 and if that moves up anymore the Giants will be a value wager.🙂
 
classy, yes, the giants do have a good defense and physical db's, but Moss and Carter have seen it all, as all teams have tried to stop them. And you know Carter is going to get the referee calls his way, he's earned that respect in the NFL. The Giants only had to worry about Donavan this weekend, but next week they'll have to worry about three positional threats: QB, WR(2), and RB. Robert Smith was too quiet last week, and that was only because Moss and Carter were spectacular; I see Smith having a big part in next weeks win. Now while the Vikes D is nowhere as good as the Giants, they will be able to keep them from scoring as much as the Vikes can put on the board (especially with no running threat anymore!).😉
 
Hmmm..........The Giants have stop the run all year with just six in the box. I see the Viking offense as being very similar to the Jaguar offense. They are a bit more explosive, but certainly not unstoppable. The Giants shut down the Jaguar offense completely except there at the end when touchdowns were being scored all over. Moss is explosive but hasn't faced a corner as good as Sehorn is playing right now in quite sometime. Carter is good at getting open but can be covered when teams are physical with him. The Vikings have lost 4 out of their last 5 on the road and three of them very badly. Two of those bad losses came in 2 out of their last 3 games. Both on the road. The Giants are a better team all around than the Saints. Its a different story when you have to go on the road in the playoffs. Only one road team has won a game so far. And even they got a few lucky bounces that went their way. And Culpepper struggles with checking off and calling audibles in loud stadiums. Thats why they asked for their home crowd to be quiet when they had the ball this week. I think the Giants will beat them. But hey thats why they play the game.
 
I think the Vikings will win provided:

1. If there is no snow.

2. The Vikings defense plays like last game.

The Giants do not have an explosive offense, so they should be fine there. As long as the Vikings do not go in cocky and flat, they will take it. There is no way they can stop the Minnesota wide receivers. The Giants have good talent in the secondary, not great talent. They have great talent at linebacker and on the defensive line. You have to take a look at the great job the offensive line did last week against New Orleans. The leauge leaders in sacks held to the big ZERO! If Moss and Carter have a couple big plays, the Giants will be forced to drop more help back, and that should be good enough for Smith to get a little rushing yards.

My pick....The Vikings 27-17

Now the AFC teams are what really scares me 🙁
 
The Giants should win this game without much difficulty.

First, the Giants O versus the Minnesota D. Sure Minnesota looked good against the 'Aints, but the Giants are much better on offense. First, no Ricky Williams. He may have played, but was not 100%. The combination of Dayne and Barber will first wear down the Minnesota D and then run around them. Also, replacing Aaron Brooks with Collins makes a world of difference. Collins is at the top of his game right now. He will be able to pick apart the Minnesota defense that will be committing 8-9 in the box to try and stop the run.

Second, the Minnesota O versus the Giants D. The easiest way to stop Moss? Make him play on grass. There goes his speed advantage. You think that field will be in top condition, or do you think the Meadowlands grounds crew will be out with the fire hoses making sure the grass gets plenty of water to grow? I wouldn't put it past them to pull the old tricks of the grounds crew at Municipal Stadium in Cleveland - tear up the sod, and paint the dirt green. The Vikings will have a tough day running the ball, as they did against the Saints. I am sure Moss will break free for at least 1 TD, but it won't be enough because the Giants do have an offense that can score against the Minnesota defense.

First off the Rams offense is far superior to the Vikings. Its not even close. Second that was earlier in the year when Sehorn and Garnes were not healthy. Third the weather was warm and very favorable to the Rams. Fourth the Vikings in their last 9 games are 4-5. The three games against playoff teams in that stretch, all losses, bad losses. Fifth they haven't been outside since Thanksgiving. Sixth, when they played the Saints the Saints finshed the Ram game looking awful. They finished playing that game poorly and when they played Minnesota they continued that way. Don't read to much into that win over the Saints. They came stumbling into Minnesota, literally.

You didn't watch Moss when he plays at Green Bay do you? Grass might slow down Moss some, but it doesn't help with the defensive players cuts either 🙂

Notice the Giants are right there with the Saints in overall defense. The Vikings are very bad at that (except their last game)

Now just take a look at the overall picture. The Giants are not great at pass defense. They are great at run defense though.

My pick as stated before:

To me, it all comes down to the play of the Vikings DBs, and Kerry Collins. A good QB cuts through the Vikings secondary like a knife through butter (i.e. Warner, Farve and Manning late in the year). Collins is not in that class. He's not even in the class below that. The Viking's corners should be able to stop the Giants passing game and hold them under 25 points. Minnisota has always been good against the run. Dayne will not win the game for NY, that's for sure.

Before the New Orleans game all the guys on TV were saying it was going to come down to weather or not Smith has a good game. He didn't. It didn't matter. The fact that NY can stop the run is totally irelavent.

My prediction: Minnisota 31, NY 21.
 
I guess we'll find out who is better come Sunday. I got a feeling all you Viking lovers will be crying just those Eagle lovers. The Eagles dominated Tampa and went to Giant stadium and got their @ss kicked. We will see if those Denny Green Vikings can get it done. Doubt it.
 
The Eagles only beat Tampa Bay because they are what 0-40 when the gametime tempature is below 40 degrees. That was a cold day, and that the Bucs always play like crap in cold weather.

You are right about come gameday. The Vikes will not let me down this year like they did in '98...........I hope!:Q

I'd just like to note that the Green Bay Packers beat the Vikings both times this season.
 
I'm sick of people saying &quot;they are so-so their last however many games&quot;. In the NFL anything can happen, especially when it comes to the playoffs/postseason. It all comes down to who want's it more. I think MN is looking for revenge from what happened in 98 and they are thirsty for a SB....

edit--->Like I said, anything can happen, even stupid ball-in-the-air-guy-on-the-ground-catches ball-and runs into the endzone stuff.
