ViewSonic VX924 issue

I recommend this monitor to a friend and he got his today but has been having an issue with it. Here is his problem.

when I first turn on the computer and it's going through it's start up process a little blue box with white print comes up and it says "no signal" it will, however go ahead and start up. Sometimes when I am right in the middle of a game or someting else, all of a sudden the screen goes black and that "no signal" box comes up. Have to reboot and start all over again.

I suggested that he checks his power options under his screen saver tab, he told me he did and that they are all set to off as well has his screen saver. I'm not sure what else to tell him to do. He says that it doesn't always happen, just once and a while and only when he's using DVI. Any help would be apreciated.

Well, I would wonder if it might be something with the DVI cable. Can you try a different cable? Is the cable tight on the video card? It just sounds like a bit of a loose connection somewhere. That's about all I can think of right now. If I think of anything else, I'll try to mention it. 🙂

Thanks, I just let him to know to check his connections. I'll post back once he gives me the results

Perhaps try a different DVI cable if you can get one. If not, I would suggest an RMA for another monitor and see what happens. 🙂

The screen does that for a second when switching resolutions or launching a game some times. I wonder if an IM application or something opening in the background might be causing it.

Well he fixed his problem. What he did to fix it was he turned the color back from 32bit to 16bit on both his desktop and in his games and it hasn't done it since. Strange.
