I just bought this monitor and got it today. To my disappointment, there are two dead pixels in the upper left. What should I do? I can return the monitor to Dell but I don't want to pay for shipping it to them. This is kind of a dilemma. PLEASE help...

I just bought a different brand LCD from a store, and it had a dead pixel in the center right, about 2 inches northeast of dead center. I can apply pressure to a spot about 1 inch from the dead pixel, and it will go away! It will stay away until I touch the screen again, or power down. So try pushing on the screen, not just right on the pixel, but around it too..

I just got this today. I don't see the receipt, just a packing slip. Does Dell give actual paper receipts, or did I have to print the order on the screen? What do I use to claim the rebate?

Finally go mine hooked up.
Nice..no dead pixels at all.

On the rebate issue we will get a receipt in the mail or do we have to request it?
Is the confirmation email for the rebate submission ?

Any Thoughts ?

I called the number printed on the rebate form. They told me that the packing slip is enough if there is a date. I also sent a printout of the order confirmation from Dell, as DallaStarFans said, just in case.

I have just received $100 Viewsonic Rebate today from the last deal PM with Staples.
Sent on 04/30/01 received on 06/21/01. Less than two months !

Caution: the rebate is a printed post card (not in envelope) from Viewsonic even though I sent rebate to RebatesHQ

I am clueless about LCDs I want to get into this deal, I love my laptops LCD so I figured with the low prices I should get into the deal with one of these babies. I am trying to decide on one... should I get the ViewSonic (rebate), Samsung (rebate), Planar (the clear one looks neat), or NEC (rebate) or wait for my KDS to come down in price, and which ones (15&quot😉? I have an analog connection. I have tried looking at all the reviews and my eyes are starting to blur (may be my monitor, *grin*). I do mostly text stuff. Thanks for any help anyone can send my way.

Well,

You need to follow the first rule around here first: DON'T FIGURE TOO LONG.

You missed on the Viewsonic deal as Dell no longer is offering the 20% off special.

See a deal, check eopnions.com, cnet.com, forums, whatever source you find as reliable, check out the product that your considering, pull the trigger.

O yeah, apply for some extra credit cards, too.

Don't despair. Another deal will come -- just a matter of time.
But like dealdo said: you gotta jump on it fast.

I got my viewsonic VG150 for ~ $375 in mid April. Smoking deal for it then. Now this deal was for about $$315 (inc. shipping/no tax for Ohio) which is even a better deal.

If you want this one since the rebate is still good till june 30, then your best bet is to have staples.com pricematch dell's $508, apply a $40 off coupon -- $508 - 40 = 468 - rebate = 368 but you will have to pay tax and shipping in addition.

That's okay I ended up going to OD and pricematching WalMart for the KDS and got the LCD for $394.99 plus $50 rebate and 6 months no interest finacing (along with an excellent deal on the Radeon, MP3 deal).

My Office Depot stores would not price match the RAD-5 monitor to a non-office supply store like Wal-Mart. They would price match Staples, Office Max, etc., but not good ol' Wal-Mart.

You can try another OD, I walked in and said I would buy the LCD only if it was a bit cheaper, oh btw I believe this LCD is at Walmart for $399, maybe I'll go check it out there. Then you let the CS suggest the PM. Hope this helps!

is the new version of this monitor (the VG151) worth it? it's a little more expensive and doesn't have the $100 rebate. but it has dvi-input and fixes some issue the vg150 has with its back cover.

yes, the deal is back again. i just ordered one. 20% off plus 100 rebate (good till 6/30). worthwhile just consider less harm you get for your eyes. 🙂

Beware, the VG150s that Dell is shipping are crap. We just shipped back our third replacement unit to them today. Evey unit that we received had dead or stuck pixels. According to Viewsonic tech support this is "normal" . This is BS since we have been purchasing LCD panels from other manufacturers and have never experienced this problem. Viewsonic is SUX

Here is trheir dead pixel policy...

ViewSonic is committed to customer satisfaction by providing the highest quality products in the industry. The result is that our LCD displays generally have very few non-performing pixels. For example, an 18" SXGA (1280 x 1024) display has nearly 4 million sub-pixels. A product exhibiting 10 non-performing pixels would equate to an extremely small 0.00025 percent of the total sub-pixels.

(1280 Horizontal Pixels) * (1024 Vertical Pixels) * (3 sub-pixels per pixel) = 3,932,160 sub-pixels

[(10 non-performing pixels) / (3,932,160 sub-pixels)] * 100% = 0.00025%

To ensure the highest performing displays, ViewSonic sets limits as to the allowable number of pixel anomalies. ViewSonic has adopted the following pixel criteria to supplement our existing three-year limited warranty. This policy applies to all ViewSonic LCD displays during the warranty period.

ViewSonic sets limits on 14" - 15" LCD?s at 5 bright sub-pixels, 5 dark sub-pixels, or a combination of 8.
ViewSonic sets limits on 17" - 18" LCD?s at 8 bright sub-pixels, 8 dark sub-pixels, or a combination of 10.
ViewSonic sets limits on 20" & greater LCD?s at 10 bright sub-pixels, 10 dark sub-pixels, or a combination of 15.
