Viewsonic VA800 or VG171 (sight unseen)?

I know that this is more of a video question, but I wanted to reach the largest possible audience. I have really been putting off getting an LCD, but I am starting to suffer some eyestrain from staring at my 19" (17" viewable) Samsung 955DF...From reading reviews (including the excellent large LCD comparison at PC World) I understand that the VG171 is the hottest LCD currently available. Although they are in stock at all of the online shops, I can't find a single example to look at in stores in my area (Denver). Noone has them!!!

I have seen the Viewsonic VA800 and find it very impressive, but it does not have DVI input. I primarily want the display for playing games (I understand that newer units are better at scaling to non-native resolutions??) and the normal websurfing, office type stuff.

Can anyone who has first hand compared the two comment?

ok, well... I went ahead and answered my own question. I bought the VA800 and just spent the last few hours playing with it.

2D image quality was jaw dropping... made my CRT look like total crap in comparison... unfortunately, there was ghosting in 3d games, color looked over-saturated, etc. I tried running Civ3 on it (which runs natively at 800X600) and it was awful.

As much as I like the 2D of the LCD I am going to bring it back.

Maybe next year they will be better suited for gaming.
