Viewsonic PS790 Quality

I need another 19" ASAP and am looking for input as to the quality of the "short neck" version from Viewsonic. I'm also considering the new p790 flat screen. I need input please.

the ps790 is a older monitor, and most people complain of moire and color problems because of the shortneck design. go check out the user comments at cnet.com , the g790 which came out at the same time is considered it's superior. i would avoid the ps790 because of the known problems with shortneck monitors.

hope this helps,
dc

Hello there...i realize i am a lowly junior member here...but i have this monitor so I can speak from experience. I am running at 1024x768@100hz no moire or color problems to speak of...excellent sharp picture also has standard vga and bnc connections on back so I can hook up another box to it

monitors are highly subjective anyway...i recommend you see the monitor in person and buy it locally if you can (too many issues shipping)

just my .02

I have the PF 790 double flat and I love it. I paid around $500 six months ago and it was worth every penny. If you have the desk space (it's not short neck) I would reccommend it.😀

Dont bother with ViewSonics, you can find much better offerings from the likes of Samsung, KDS and Hitachi.

i agree, out of a p810, p815, and a higher-end 17" viewsonic, all have needed repairs in the first 2 years...

doh!

i'm working off a 15" monitor while i type this... my p810 should be back any day now!

A coworker of mine has this monitor and absolutely raves about it. I am not sure about it though, given some of the other comments. Can anyone recommend any other good 19" Short-Depth monitors?

The Viewsonic PF 790 has no peer. I bought mine at computer show 2 months ago for $420. There's also a manufacturer's rebate from Viewsonic for $20.

I'm absolutely enamored with this monitor. There are a couple of faint lines, but it's no distraction at all.

I don't know about Samsung, but the KDS doesn't compare . . .

We have a bunch of KDS monitors at work, and they will make your eyes bleed if you spend more than an hour a day in front of them. I regularly do 14 hours straight with the viewsonic, no problem

skore: did all say all ps790 users have problems with it? no... i just said most. read those user comments at cnet.com

overmars: were you looking at kds's fd trinitron line? you were probably looking at one of their budget monitors...

I've had my PS790 about a year and a half.
Thick colors, crisp, and bright with v550TNT, and now, Radeon32ddr.
Great monitor. No problems.
