I've had this monitor for a year now...and I guess I've gotten used to looking at it so it doesn't really seem blurry to me anymore. Yet when I look at my friend's piece of crap dell monitor...it looks a lot more clear than mine. When I set my refresh rate to 60 Hz at any resolution, it's pretty crisp...but anything higher, it get sort of blurry...has anyone else had this problem? In games the picture looks great...but when I'm in desktop mode...that's a whole another story :(

check your monitor cable.. usually if it gets blurry when you turn up the refresh rate means you're being limited by video bandwidth(speed of the DAC), and not all the signal is going through.

I bought that same monitor a month ago (from a local store because I wanted to be able to return it if necessary). Well, I found serious shadowing down the left side and poor convergence in the corners. I took it back the next day and traded it for a second P95f+, and it looked very good (but not as good as my old iiyama vision master pro 17). I've been using the P95f+ since then, and yesterday it suddenly became extremely blurry. It was as if some electric field gave out and the electron beams were no longer focused. Anyway, I'll be taking the second P95f+ back tomorrow, and will hopefully either get my money back or get some other monitor.

I'm really tired of 1280x1024 (which is what I'm running on my 17" iiyama) and would like to move up to at least 1600x1200. This means that unless I want to spend $1000 on a 21" LCD, I will have to stick with a CRT. I will be checking out an NEC/Mitsubishi AS900 (pretty low end, but will run 1600x1200 @ 75Hz which is enough for me) but I'm also thinking of stepping up to a 22" CRT in the hopes of finding something with a bit more quality. I'd be willing to spend about $600 if it meant I could run @ 1800x1600 (or whatever those larger sizes are), but I'm not ready to spend $1000 on an LCD with poor colors and ghosting in games.

Needless to say, I won't be going for another Viewsonic, even though we use them @ work for CAD (P810's mostly) and they seem to do very nicely.

I think that CRT quality has gone to crap now that everyone is going towards LCD's. Unfortunately, LCD performance isn't at the same level as CRT, so you are kinda screwed either way if you are a gamer who also likes a high res desktop. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I have had a p95f+ for a year now. I do find higher resolutions seem a bit fuzzy with text. No issues with refresh rates though. Really a pretty crappy monitor, would buy something else, but I am too cheap.

what would you recommend for a gaming monitor? Sony? They're super expensive though...

I have a similar problem with my brand new Viewsonic A90f+ 19". Blurry. I attempted to RMA but the cost to ship the monitor was almost as much to buy a new one. So I bought a 19" Dell CRT Flat screen for @ 200. My viewsonic is collecting dust in my garage. Crappy monitors if you asked me. I wont be buying Viewsonic again anytime soon.

Well, I just got back from the Computer Store.

I returned my second P95f+ and took a third one, since they didn't have any other brands in stock. They could have ordered me an NEC/Mitsu AS900 (which doesn't have as high a refresh capability) but then I would have been waiting for a month to see if it was any good.

So, we pulled another P95f+ and tried it out, and it is the best yet of all three I've tried.

So far I have been able to run @ 1600x1200x85Hz with excellent clarity.

I have also tired it at the higher resolutions and found that 1856x1392x72Hz is very nice as well, although text is a bit small (but I might try it with larger fonts).

Anyhow, while I am still nervous about the reliability of the monitor, at least the initial quality of this particular sample is quite good.

After all this, all I can say is that if you are buying a CRT, be sure to go to a store and test out the actual monitor you will be taking home. Plan on spending some time so you can let it warm up (1/2 hour at least) and be sure to test it @ the resolutions at which you wish to use it.

I'm knocking on wood as I say this, but so far I am quite happy with this third (and hopefully final) p95f+

Also, I wouldn't take a Samsung 955 becaus the refresh on that is terrible. If you plan on using it @ 1280x1024, then it is OK, but if you want to run @ 1600x1200 then you are stuck @ 68Hz which is barely usable. If you want a Samsung, check out Best Buy because they have the 997 for the same price as the 955. The 997 has much better refresh rates, so is a better overall choice (IMO).

I would also check out the NEC/Mitsu's to see if you can find one with the features and performance you like.

Again though, after reading reviews online, it is evident that pretty much all the CRT MFG's have quality problems, and that's why I strongly recommend going to a store to buy the monitor.

Good luck!
