Viewsonic A75f or KDS AV7TF for gaming? I think KDS has better "stats", but I hear Viewsonic has better pic quality. Anyone have experience with both and can give me a comparison? Thanks.

I would go with the KDS AV-7TF, which uses a Sony FD Trinitron screen.

KDS is great for the price, but I personally prefer Viewsonics, they have great quality and warranty service. But they do have quite a hefty price tag attached.

Don't know the exact models you're talking about, but viewsonic is top-tier and KDS is bargain basement. Doesn't mean it's bad...gaming, most general computing is fine. If you need super accurate color, sharpness...go w/ viewsonic. We have Viewsonics for our graphics designer, and off-brands for other employees, and there is a subtle difference.

Eyez, do you know what you are talking about? KDS is way better than Viewsonic. Bargain basement? Yeah, right.

Viewsonic is definitely not top-tier.

I could be wrong about KDS, maybe I remembered them in their old days or something, kinda like Samsung in the old days. Their stuff used to be crap. Now I understand they are reputable. I have 3 Viewsonics on my desk right now, and I can say I'm real pleased with everyone. Update me on the KDS thing if I'm wrong.

Yucky,

Lets not confuse the low end Viewsonics (Optiquest Line) (which are comparable to KDS) to Viewsonic professional seriers. I currently have a PT775 (only 17" which I bought over 3 years ago). This monitor still kicks ass for quality. My model is still available today (has both BNC and D-Sub connectors on the back). My 17" is worth about the price of two 19" low ends even today.
Many KDS monitor have a .26 or higher dot pitch.

As for warranty service, I had a new monitor in less than 3 business days (the red gun went on me, after 2 1/2 years). No questions asked RMA:

Me: I need an RMA # , my serial # is xxxxxxxx
Rep: Your RMA is XXXXXX

(This all took less than two minutes)

<< Many KDS monitor have a .26 or higher dot pitch. >>

Are you also not confusing the low-end line with the Avitrons? Viewsonic has their share of .26+ dot pitch monitors.

KDS. I had one but I bought a new 19" monitor yesterday. The picture quality is very good. The color is also good.

I recently bought a new KDS Avitron 17" FD Trinitron. I love it. It was a replacement for a 19" MagView which absolutley sucked. The only thing I would get is a bigger version.

if u're getting monitors with comparable specs (i.e. aperature grill vs. aperature grill, not aperature grill vs. shadow mask), then viewsonic is better, but not better priced.

assuming u're not some sort of videophile/graphics professioanl, u won't notice much of a difference between both of their aperature grill pitch monitors...

and since KDS is cheaper, i'd go KDS...unless the price difference is negligible, then i'd go viewsonic...(which is what i did)

I'd take the KDS. I don't think Viewsonic monitors are much good anymore. Had the chance to compare the PF790 vs AV-195TF and the KDS kicked some ass IMO. KDS has excellent warrnaty also. Some I'd pick the KDS.

Finally, you might want to check out the Samsung 700nf because I hear some issues of KDS monitors dieing so I think the 700nf has a slight edge of av7tf.

I did some more checing. I took a look at both of them and I found the KDS to be much more clear and have better colors, but I read that KDS monitors go out more the Viewsonics. I'm not sure now, but I think I'm going to go with the 19" version of the KDS. No Samsungs where I'm buying or I probably would have went that route.

I can't compare the specifics of theose individual monitors as I havent had experience with either one so I can't say which is better, all I can offer is my opinion on the manufacturers.

Well as a company I prefer Viewsonic monitors over KDS f youw ant the highest quality, but KDS monitors are good quality and they are definitely priced nicely. I have a KDS monitor on my desk right now.
