Best Buy has the viewsonic n1300 13" lcd tv for $349 and there is a $100 rebate. The final price would be $249.

how is this a good deal? The small tv craze has gone too far. The dang power strip you are going to connect to is just as big as the tv.

Buy a 13" crt for $75 or so and just tape a few twenty dollar bills on if you want it to look better. And THEN take the rest of the money you saved and take the wife out or get yourself a few lap dances.

PolarNorth...get your head out of your a$$. Ever think that some people's homes and lifestyles are different from yours? Maybe the extra money spent on an lcd tv is worth it for the additional space and convenience for some people? For example, I've been looking for a small tv to mount in my dining/bar area.

PolarNorth, you have a lot to learn. The LCD tv is only $100 more than the 9" crt that we already have. A 13" crt would cost less but takes up way too much space. We have a large kitchen but would not like the bulkiness of a 13" crt on the countertop. The crt will go into the bathroom so my wife can watch it in the morning when she is getting ready for work. Maybe you could spend more time making positive posts in the forum........

It is an advertised deal in the store.

Looks like I got 'powned' or however they say in the OT forum.

Yeah your right, there are some applications which the small LCD would come in handy.

But still, when when relativly high rez 17" LCD monitors cost the same amount, it just seems it should be priced lower.

But I was just thinking that the little LCD would be great for a bathroom tv, no more waiting for commercial breaks!

BTW, I hate best buy, but I guess that is just a personal problem.

EDIT: Over 100 posts!

You know your needs better than I do, but still, personally if you wanted it it for light tv watching, or just to look cool, I still think a nice thin rimmed 17" mounted with a video in adapter (if the lcd doesn't have video-in) would be great, and not much more.

If you want to go full out, buy a SFF pc in addition all that, and use the monitor to browse drink recipies, look up google and IMDB to settle random bets and what not...

Just a thought.

PolarNorth,

You are correct. I do think the lcd tvs are overpriced especially when 17" lcd monitors are about the same price. I am sure they will come down in the future as more people buy them. It is funny that i had a Dell 1901fp lcd and sent it back, then a Viewsonic 171b lcd and sold it. Now i have a NEC fp2141sb 21"crt monitor for my computer yet I bought a lcd tv for the kitchen. I think it is a wife thing. My wife liked the lcd monitors much better but I like the crt for gaming. I have a 65" projection tv too and I like it better than most dlp tvs. The picture just seems better and the response time on high action shots is better. Weird

BTW I guess Best Buy hates me I only buy things on sale there.
