AL77:
Im NOT basing my opinion on just the P775, I have seen their P81x series and was not impressed at all. I dont know how reliable they are or how good of a spec they carry, but they certainly didnt look good enough for me. The only models I will bother with ViewSonic is the PF series based on DiamondTron NF, we've got better options for shadow masks.
About Maxtor, guess whats? I was proudly crowned the Maxtor prophet on another forum I participate. Simply due to my great experience with Maxtor hard drives. 6 in a row and they're still serving me well. Monitors, it's a totally different case. You did make a good illustration of the point. But monitors, unlike hdds, dont fail as often, but they do get worn out such as becoming fuzzy and unclear.
<<I feel that Viewsonic compares well against Samsung in many areas. The value-targeted E771/E773, for instance, stand up well (and better IMO) against the similarly priced Samsung 750s/750b.>>
Well, if want to beat Samsung in value-targeted, you're gonna have to beat their 735/755DF and 700IFT, NOT the 750s/750b. Heck, even the 750p can be found for a lower price than the ViewSonic Es. And last time I check, the DF and IFT have 0.24mm diagonal dot pitch, quite a mark unreachable for anybody now.
<<The Samsung 700NF/900NF might be a little cheaper than the comparable Viewsonic PF775/PF790, but again I feel Viewsonic's quality is comparable, not necessarily superior. Personally, Viewsonic, Samsung, and Sony are all at the top of my list (all have low-budget products I wouldn't touch however). And Iiyama, these are impossible to find in my area. Perhaps only online?>>
A little cheaper? Maybe not. The 900NF is better than PF795 in specs, while cost around $90 lower. Priced exactly the same as the PF790 but having superior specs over it. It's not like ViewSonics are THAT bad, but they usually fall short when I compare them to my top candidates(Samsung, KDS, Hitachi, Sony...).
