viewsonic monitors

hmm..i thought viewsonic monitors were supposed to be one of the best brands out there?

here at work we use a lot of acer lcd monitors. and we just got about 6 or 7 viewsonics. 3 or 4 of the viewsonics were bad or went bad shortly after hooking them up. i have yet to get a bad acer.

Of the few LCDs that we use, they are viewsonic and I have yet to encounter any trouble with them.
a few VG710b and a couple 19" versions

I've purchased 3 VA712b's (17", 8ms) from ViewSonic and haven't had any problems with them (no dead pixels, etc). We also have a whole bunch at work. I think my next LCD will be a viewsonic as well.

I've had two 19-in Viewsonic LCDs now running for over 2 years - never a hint of a problem. There are different grades of Viewsonics, BTW. What model is that your company got that failed?

We just got 7 new VA902b 19inch LCD Viewsonics here at work. Two of the 7 came with bad pixles. Other than that they have been fine so far.

they were Optiquest Q9 19"

one had a ton of dead pixels, one had a 2 inch yellow stripe running down the right hand side, the screen would go black on another one. those are the 3 i can remember off hand.

Bummer dude. My comp uses Dell 1905FP but we just switched over to Samsung 940Be LCDs, they are pretty damn sweet for the price. Out of about 100+ LCDs only one had a blown pixel. All of the others were and are still perfect.

Double bummer - I can't find those any where on Viewsonic's product lists - must be a below the horizon line.

IIRC, I think Optiquest is Viewsonic's 'budget' line. I don't think product reviewers/testers ever even bother to test them (at least I've never seen an Optiquest monitor reviewed). They're pretty bottom of the barrel, I think, probably on par with cheapy brands like Envision, KDS, Starlogic, CTX, and that lot. 🙁

FWIW, I've owned a nice Viewsonic 21" CRT for 3 years now and haven't had a single problem. 🙂

no clue, i didn't order them, my boss did.
speaking of which, he should let me order stuff. i'm sure he's paying a lot more for stuff than he could be getting it for.

Yes, those are pretty much the crappiest things that Viewsonic makes.

Their more expensive CRTs (the "G" and "P" lines) are generally very good, and their top-end LCDs (the "VP" series ones) are also good. Their cheap models are not always up to par, so you really need to do your homework on the exact one you're looking at (generally true with most monitors...)

I'm currently using 3 17inch VA721s on my workstation. I have another 15 inch that is not being used. I have never had any type of problems with any of them (not one bad pixel in the group). When I buy another it will be a Viewsonic.
