I can't answer your questions, I just wanted to comment on something. I went to their site to help find the specs. After looking through all of their different monitor families, I realized NONE of them list what type of tube is used. Not even their high end monitors say if it's AG or SM. That seems kind of strange to me. I'd think a manufacturer would advertise a basic fact like that.

My wife uses a ViewSonic PS790 19". I know that isn't what you were asking about, but she's had the monitor for over 3 years and still is very happy with it. It's been running strong with no faults...if that means anything to you as far as reliability goes.

I have an A75F myself, very nice. But I need an A70F and I'll die if I don't get one :D

I used to use an A70f until I got my NEC FE991. The viewsonic is a very high quality monitor, you won't be dissapointed in it. I believe its aperture grill. Here's a quote from Tom's Hardware explaining that a little:

Only two manufacturers make tubes with Trinitron technology - Sony, with the FD Trinitron, and Mitsubishi, with the DiamondTron. The PerfectFlat by ViewSonic is actually an adaptation of the latter. The main difference between the two is that Sony uses three electron guns for the three basic RGB colors and Mitsubishi only uses one. In all cases, the different technologies go by the name of Aperture Grill, less well known but more widespread than Trinitron, which belongs to Sony.

From time to time I use my A70f with my FE991SB using the dvi-vga adapter that came with my abit ti4400. I'm sure thats a cheapy, and there is absolutely no quality loss on the adapted display. I'd save your money and get the cheapo.

I have had an A70 for about two years and it's een the best monitor I've ever had in terms of clarity and color. I wish I had an A70F (flat version). You'll like it.

I've got one and it's excellent, and I don't remember if it is AG or SM. I don't use it that often now that I have the PF790, but there is nothing wrong with the A70F. The images are very bright and the color is as good as I could ask for.
