'Views' Count for topics

I think a view counter would be a good addition to the forums.

It would give a good indication of how good your choice of words are for your topic, how well worded your question is or how hard the question you have asked is. It also might indicate activity on a particular forum at a time or day. Useful for more than 1 application.

Anyone got any thoughts on this? I had this idea last night and i cant remember all of what I had thought about. Seems like my arguement for this implementation is rather weak.

Zuni has said before that he won't implement this here.

Think about it, you need to do an update every time someone clicks on a thread. For a place with the amount of traffic that AT has that's a hell of a lot of work for the DB server to do.

Yeah, most places Ive seen it implemented have been rather small sites.

Didnt consider the traffic implication of Anandtech, looking at it now, it was kinda silly to suggest it.

Still love the system tho, would be nice to see how many people arent looking at my poll in Cases/Cooling Board :|

While I would love to see it implemented here, I can understand Zuni's point about it being too hard on the servers. I'm afraid it won't be happening.
