Viewing angle on Aluminum MB

Is it just a function of the glossy screen that my macbook seems to have poor viewing angles? Basically, if you're not looking dead-on, parts of the screen will look washed out/overexposed.

Does everyone just deal with this, or do I have an issue with this computer?

Compared to the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, the viewing angles on the MacBook are not that great. However, they are a great improvement over the original MacBook (which I don't have too much trouble with actually).

I was really hoping you'd tell me they're the best viewing angles on any LCD ever so I could have a defect and a replacement 🙂

It's not horrible, I notice it mostly when using it for tv viewing. If I'm not looking dead on at the screen, the top is always washed out. Ah well.

I saw one at BestBuy recently and I didn't think the screen viewing angles looked that terrible. If you have an Apple Store or anything near you, maybe you should just go and sit it next to another one to see if it exhibits the same viewing issues.

It is a known fact that LCD panels used for Macbook Alu are far inferior than the Pro and Air. Google it, you will see numerous complaints.

Yeah, it's not the best display. Not even as good as my old iBook but it's not the worst I've ever seen either.

I hope they fix this in the next revision. I want a MacBook with a screen similar to the Air. This is the main reason I haven't purchased a MB yet.

I may eventually be proven wrong but I doubt the screens will get significantly better. Apple is extremely focused on their margins and they have some of the best of the industry. Plus, they don't want professionals stepping down from the MacBook Pros (again, protecting profit/margins). This is the main reason why the MacBooks don't have firewire.

At some point technology will probably improve and the screens will improve but on a relative scale they will always be worse than the Air and Pros.

my aluminum is bad, I did a few graphics on it, which looked awful on a real monitor because I was looking at it a bit off axis. I wouldn't recommend it if you plan on doing anything like that with it. I plan on selling mine and getting an air, and doing all my photoshop work on my desktop.
