Does anyone own the viewsonic VX2640w? I am currently in the market for a new monitor and I'm trying to get more feedback on viewsonic models. Has anyone had a bad experience with their viewsonic LCD monitor? As it stands, I feel VX2640w seems to be the best bet for me but I'm trying to get more opinions. The range I'm looking to get is between 22 - 26 inch versions.

Does anyone have other recommendations for great monitors used both for gaming (both computer games as well as Playstation 3 games) and watching DVDs/streaming videos/etc.?

Thanks in advance.

If you decide to buy Viewsonic monitor I hope you will have no problem reaching customer service/tech support because I had a bad experience with viewsonic. I am not going to buy any viewsonic monitor for the rest of my life.

I have been running a pair of VX-900s for nearly 4 years. Never had any problem with either one - never a need to contact tech support. There are good and bad incidents for every brand of monitor out there.

Having said that, if I were to replace these with larger, letterbox units, I would seriously look at Samsung and LG.

Are you limiting your shopping to only ViewSonic monitors? If you aren't I have a great 22" monitor for you. The Acer 2216wbd is a great 22" monitor. It costs 229$ (really cheap for a nice 22") I have this monitor, and some people say that the viewing angles are bad in the comments, but the only angle that isn't good is viewing it from the bottom (what monitor doesn't look bad from underneath?) Viewing angles shouldn't be an issue anyway if you're a normal person that likes to have their monitor in front of them. Yeah so if you're not only limited to ViewSonic monitors and want a 22" monitor I'd say go with the acer 2216wbd. It also won the customer choice award for LCD monitors. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824009094

Best monitor I've ever seen in that price range has been the Samsung 245BW. It's expensive, but it's absolutely beautiful.

Another, slightly cheaper, monitor which I've never actually used, though I have used other models by the same company is this one. I've used 4-5 different Scepter monitors and all have been superb quality.

As a rule of thumb, I try to stay away from 22" panels. 20" or 24" for me.

Any particular reason for that?

Interestingly I have both an Acer 22" widescreen LCD, and a Viewsonic 20" widescreen LCD. I use both of them in the same room on the same computer and I can tell you with complete confidence that the Viewsonic is more vibrant. It has a real vivid coloration to it, quite beautiful. The Acer is also a great monitor, but it has a bit more subdued coloring, just a bit on th eflat side. I love them both, but if I had to say which is the better monitor, I would give the nod to Viewsonic, but just barely. Not enough to reconsider my set up.

Other than the color saturation, both monitors are equally great. (Can't tell you the model numbers but they are both the lowest priced from their respective family.) I've had the viewsonic for 1 yr, the Acer since Black Friday '07. (Circuit City $169 model)
