the apartment isn't complete yet, still requires lights and flooring to be installed. timeframe is 4-6 months, and i will definitely post pics then

Sunrise showing the peaks one can see on a clear day

this was taken with an old D70 some time ago. i want to go back with the D700 and try to get an HDR shot next time.

we've done 4 or 5 hikes in the area. since sophomore year summer internships etc. haven't given me the time, since the best time to hike in that region is July/August.

hopefully the home will be complete in ~4-6 months, i'll post tons of pics then. right now it still needs the lighting and flooring put in, so its a bit of an empty shell at the moment.

how long does it take to get there?

when driving it totally depends on traffic. usually ~10 hours from my parent's house in New Delhi. if you have more time, there's an overnight train to Shimla (state capital) and then a 1.5 hour drive.

if you're in a huge rush, you could fly to shimla in 45 mins, but it is pretty scary since the runway ends on a cliff 😛

just graduated college, heading to my first job in the fall. this is my parent's place...

Damn, that's beautiful. I have a lot of friends from that area, some from Nepal, Sikkim, etc. I'll be visiting the Himalayas within the next year or so on my way to Manasoravar.

Any more pictures?

I can actually hear the monks chanting in those pictures.

there actually is a temple on the 2nd peak from the left (under the sun). to get there from where the picture is taken you have to walk all the way down to the valley and then up that hill
