Healthy, cheap, tasty and made to order. 🙂

vietnamese sandwiches are awesome, but in no way are they healthy. that egg sauce they put in there? cholesterol city! man i wish i wasn't exiled to stupid pittsburgh. i miss bolsa.

hehe yeah, i don't feel too healthy when i eat them, but they're better than fast food. i think that sauce is like a mayo type thing.. and then they put pate in it (which isn't the healhtiest, but sure tastes good). 🙂 $1.75 for a samich? i guess the prices have gone up. in san jose you can get one for a buck or a buck 25. anyone know any places in san diego that have em? i have yet to find a place. :\

p.s. i think lee's bread is goot.

They're certainly healthier than your typical fast food burger.

Earlier this week I decided to cut down on my expenses, so I've quit having expensive lunches. Almost every day this week for lunch I've had Viet. sandwiches. Banh Mi + Milk tea = 3 bucks and some change. 🙂

Pic for those who don't know WTH I'm talking about

Oh man these look terrible... You'd be lots better off getting a Big Mac for the same money!

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!!!!😛

So what's wrong with Big Macs? B/c their Canadian? Macs got less bread=more healthy, they also look better (dunno if they taste better, they prolly do, haven't tried that Vietnamese stuff, but I'm sure I'd get a terrible heartburn from it judging from its looks).

McD's is the crappiest fast food joint by far (In-N-Out and Carl's owns McD's so bad it's not even funny) and I doubt a Big Mac with it's fried patty is healthier than a sandwich.

Well maybe... To each his own, as they say. To me Big Macs taste quite good. I don't like their regular hamburgers or cheeseburgers though, too much bread and too little filling, but royal and double cheeseburgers and big macs are quite OK IMO.

Interesting, this thread has turn into:

Whether Lee's sandwiches sucks vs other sandwich shops or Vietnamese Sandwiches vs Big Macs.

Only on ATOT. 😀

Trust me man, if you're ever in California you gotta stop by an In-N-Out.

McWhat? I say it's McCrap!!! 😛

Allright, I have to confess I don't have much alternative here except Big Macs, but what I know for sure is that a sandwich which looks like the one on the pic you posted just can't taste or be good IMVHO.

No way I beg to differ, its all about Fat Burger or FuddRuckers, it ownz In-N-Out. See if you've eat enough burger joints through out Orange County and California then you would know. 😛

ROFL

"Big Macs" and "Healthy" in the same sentence.....hahaha. Only if you add: "are the furthest thing from" 😀

Bah no way. In-N-Out is better than Fatburger. I won't count fuddruckers cuz I wouldn't call them fast food. Fatburger gets props because you can get beer there tho. 😛

EDIT: Now that thread is officially OT, will change topic.

There are many of these shops in NYC Chinatown. Love very much but cost about $3.75-4.00 for one. If it was cheaper i would eat these babies all week.

don't forget onion rings.

Beer, my Fatburger suxs then.

Lee's Sandwiches website

i LOVE vietnamese sandwiches - my parents would get them practically every other week on saturdays. it's so sad that the nearest vietnamese sandwich shop is in downtown LA. or else i have to head out to monterey park. 🙁 unless any UCLA students know of one closer? i wish they would open one in westwood!

i LOVE getting lee's sandwiches ever since they switched their bread to their baguettes. (they used to use a fatter bread, like in the picture) now its a thin baguette that's sweet. SO YUMMY SO GOOD.

and for 1.75 each? HECK YEAH!

(and to add to the big mac debate, when i USED to eat a big mac (will NOT touch it anymore) i felt like i was gonna have a heart attack. vietnamese sandwiches don't give me that feeling.)

Fatburger is OK, but I still like In-N-Out better. Another good place (only availabe in the Tri-County area I think) is The Hamburger Habit. Theirs are grilled are also very good. This is not the same Hamburger Habit in West LA.

can someone give the address or location of this lee sandwiche joint? I want to check out the gir, errrr, food.

I LOVE LEE'S BREAD!!!!!!!!!!! but as for viet sandwiches, they do not make the best by far. but i would go just for their bread. it's yummy!!!

as a lover of both viet sandwiches and mcD's burgers...i can't really compare the two because they are totally different. but at least viet sandwiches taste more fresh. props to u non-viets who tried some of the mystery sandwiches 🙂 it DOEs have some funky stuff in it sometimes..heheh

How can anyone possibly like the freaking rat burgers that come out of mcds?

I dunno Kim, I gotta question your taste in food now. 😛 Plus it's kind of troubling to have mystery ingredients only known as "funky stuff" in your sandwich.

Maybe I'll just stick to innout.

The shredded chicken sandwiches rock. Especially with extra veggies...wash it down with the iced coffee and I'm satisfied!

fatburger and in-n-out are just in their own league. it depends on what i'm in the mood for, but they're both consistantly fantastic. hard to compare a 4x4 animal style with a king burger with bacon, chili, and a fried egg... 😀
