It just came out, I only played it for a short time but it's pretty sweet. The level that comes with the demo looks amazing.. and the guns are cool. It is pretty fun, you can crawl along the ground and get up in trees to snipe.. looks like it has potential. So if you haven't tried it yet, download it and give it a whirl. You can play Death Match, Capture the Flag, Protect the Pilot in the demo. Only gripe I have with it is that you need to use gamespy to play online :( I hate gamespy.. but oh well.

Here is their official website

and here are some screenshots

"Acting as an elite soldier, players of "Vietcong" command the A-team, part of the U.S. Special Forces, in realistically represented Vietnamese environments. Players will lead as many as six expertly trained soldiers through 20 dramatic missions, and follow a storyline that captures the danger, fear and unpredictability of the war itself. The full-featured multiplayer mode also allows gamers to play as U.S. Special Forces or Vietcong soldiers and to battle over specially designed levels.

In "Vietcong," the player chooses from more than 25 weapons, including M16's, grenade launchers and sniper rifles. Players can order air strikes or ambush enemy patrols, but success ultimately depends on their ability to keep a level head in the thick of intense action."

Ironically the title: "Vietcong, U.S. special forces in Vietnam" gives the impression that the VC were the special forces themselves.

What do you expect from Eastern European game developer companies? :)

I'm pretty impressed so far. The grenades are hard to master and sometimes hang in the air before actually falling to finally explode, and the sounds of distant gunfire are sometimes non-exsistant. I love the bushes and the detail of texture of the water, and the US forces seem to have more detail then the VC. Also sometimes when you fire while under concealment of bushes you'll actually see individual leaves fall.

Is this a DX8.1 game?
