VideoLogic DigiTheatre DTS at DEEP discount!

Read the review on this site done on this speaker set. I ordered a set early last week. There's a new model coming out (silver rather than black) that SUPPOSEDLY is tuned for improved midrange. The specs read exactly the same however. Remember, this isn't the best choice for FPS gamers if that's your priority as there aren't analog rear inputs for surround sound gaming. HOWEVER, if you use the nforce chipset and the audio supplied by it, the chipset does real-time conversion to digital 5.1 surround sound, thus working for games. Speakers are normally $699 at this site (have seen for $599 elsewhere), but are being clearanced for ONLY (drumroll please):

$299!!!!!!!!!!

They're out of stock at this site, so they'll ship from the factory overseas. Discount appears to only be on for the US/Canada version.

Here's the link:

Good one for my first post? 😎

not bad - but still too pricey for me. Im actaully more intersted in the 5.1 DigiTheatre LC for $99 on the top of that page u linked. Those seem like a decent inexpensive set.

I had this one before, the sound quality is pretty good, but the subwoofer is weak

Looks like a good deal, how to they compare to the klipsch speakers, or the CL Inspire 5700s?

No offense meant to anyone that owns a set, but the Inspire's are really crap. Stay away from any speakers with the "Creative" name on them.

Honest comparison to Klipsch (all people's ears being different, of course):

The Klipsch have a much heavier bass (stso was probably referring to that). The Klipsch go loud, but in so doing, aren't that smooth throughout. The highs on the Klipsch tend to hit hard on the nerves for a lot of people after a while, and the ones that I hear really like the Klipsch tend to just like very loud music/games (the kind of people that like 1000 watts in their car shaking it apart). For sound clarity and precision, the DigiTheatre is hands above better. HOWEVER, for FPS gamers who want 4 channel gaming, you MUST use the Nforce chipset audio!!!! There are no analog inputs on this. So, if gaming is your primary importance for sound, choose Klipsch. If it's movies and music, go with the DigiTheatre (unless you have the Nforce, then it's a no-brainer). These speakers will reach very high level of sounds for even a medium sized room and are MORE than adequate. The DTS decoder is a nice feature if you use pass-through on your sound card to let the hardware handle it (I like this option better than the software decode of PowerDVD). Plus, added bonus that you could use these speakers as a multimedia set on a DVD player in your entertainment center.

Anyway, only difference between these and the Crossfire is that the amp used is a bit of a less quality than the Crossfire. Otherwise, the speakers and bass are the same and are VERY nice quality. Very good setup program for adjusting individual speaker volumes built into the speakers as well.

Good buy at this price. The net is full of reviews if you look, and all are very good. Only speaker set that might beat it would be the Megaworks 510D, but it's $400 and without a DTS decoder (again, can use PowerDVD if you want...I like to take as much off the processers as possible though).

I remember back when I was speaker shopping I heard lots of good things about DigiTheatre systems. (I ultimately decided not to upgrade though)
*edit* I heard "good" things about the systems, not god things 😉

<< What exactly does "heezy" mean? >>

something stupid my friends came up with. sheesh don't you guys know anything? j/k, i don't even know why i threw that in there, i guess i'm so used to the lingo....anyways it means cool or something i guess lol

I have always wanted these speakers! tried to look the company up at resellerratings.com but nothing came up. anybody know the repuation of this company? have you recevied your speakers yet sumrtym?

wongsoongpak:

I ordered on the 26th. They have none in stock, so they're shipping from the factory. Now, I assumed they had a warehouse somewhere here in the States....WRONG! They're coming from the factory overseas. I talked to Cybration today, and they said they hadn't received confirmation from the factory yet on their receipt of the order, but would call them tomorrow. In addition, they hadn't shipped my wall mounts yet (ordered on the 27th) but promised to get them on the way tomorrow as well.

We'll see. I get the feeling it's not the best run place in the world, but as long as they get me the products, I don't care. They are listed on the VideoLogic website as an authorized dealer (as is Fry's -- no longer carrying -- and the Turtle Beach group -- also no longer carrying). There was a digitheatre website (still is), and whoever ran it took orders without ever shipping the products. I don't have full history, but I'm thinking that there were distribution problems between the company overseas and their distributers here that caused a lot of them to drop the line.

Anyway, I talked to a really nice person on the phone today who did a great job running down info for me. I'm not really worried about not getting the product. I'll keep you posted though as to delivery times, etc. I'm checking on prices of the stands made for the rear digitheatre speakers, and Cybration is supposed to call me tomorrow as well as check with the factory on status of my order.

UPDATE:

My wall speaker mounts have shipped from TX, and the factory overseas confirmed the order. According to the info I was given, should take 10 days. Only had to pay shipping like it was coming from TX ($35 to KS). Due to time differences, I won't get an answer on the speaker stands price till tomorrow.

Anyway, if you call them, ask for Pam. Nice gal and very good about getting you the info. She's new on the product line which explains some of the lack of answers immediately to my questions. All in all, looks like a good outfit.

P.S. Tell them I sent you....I'm trying to get them to give me the stands at cost. j/k!!! (kinda) 😀

sumrtym, did u get ur speakers yet? i want to order the videologic sirocco spirit, but when i e-mailed them they said they r out of stock, but would ship from from the factiry overseas. seeing as how videologic is a u.k. company i am guessing it will be shipped from there. they said it should take 7-10 days from my order date. did they give u a tracking number or tell u how they would ship it (dhl, ups, airborne express, etc.)?

Well, I got my speaker wall mounts from TX (they had in stock). HOWEVER, you're right...the speakers are shipping from overseas. AND they won't start shipments till after the 15th since they are doing inventory right now. (heck of a way to run a business).

Pam told me of the issue. After the 15th, you should be able to contact her for updates. She's working to get VideoLogic to provide the tracking numbers to those of us who ordered.

P.S. No info yet on how much the back stands would be from VideoLogic. I'm beginning to sense why Fry's and Turtle Beach dropped 'em. Just MAYBE a customer service issue??? Can't fault Cybration though...Pam has done an excellent job of keeping me posted and passing on info.

<< Anybody found somewhere else has this set? We may use AMEX to price match it. >>

What's the reputation of this website? On this website the price is $599. Not good enough for AMEX PM.

i'm not sure, but i read at another forum that digitheatre.com is out of business. i tried to give them a call today, but all i got was there voicemail. i will try again though either later today or tomorrow.

sumrtym, i am thinking about ordering something from ICUII. did they videologoic will ship them the speakers on the 15th or after the 15th? does ICUII give u any tracking number?

Digitheatre.com is indeed dead. It failed. Apparantly whoever run the site took orders without shipping anything (from what I heard). Now, whether that was his issue or a supply problem, I don't know. I heard a supply problem, but that guy's customer service from others I talked to was VERY poor.

They didn't provide a tracking number because it hasn't shipped yet. The factory will resume shipments on the 15th after completing inventory. Does that mean it will SHIP on the 15th??? Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it unless you get to the 25th (10 days shipping) and you havn't received anything. As I said, ICUII's Pam is the new (I'm stressing NEW here) VideoLogic rep, so she doesn't have every answer. She is working hard to try and get tracking numbers from VideoLogic when they ship to provide those that have ordered as she did not know beforehand the warehouse overseas was shutting down to do inventory.

Relax. I don't doubt that I'll get my speakers, it may just have taken a month from my order date. Again, contacting ICUII won't do any good till after the 15th as Pam won't have any info till after then.

FINAL UPDATE: Received the speakers on the 23rd (apparantly, about six customers who ordered about the same time were "misplaced"). Took one full month for delivery. Was shipped fedex from San Diego facility. Perhaps just because I'd been waiting, they DID ship it overnight. Tested them out last week on a DVD player with "Saving Private Ryan". I turned 'em up pretty loud, but didn't crank them (want a burn-in period so as to not damage the speakers). Throughout, the audio was excellent...no overpowering, smooth responses, and great separation. Without adjusting individual speaker volumes, the center channel provided clear audio even in the midst of the beach scene with bullets whizzing all around. EXCELLENT value! In fact, one of my friends wants to buy them off of me for his use now (he knows I'm not going to really use them for about another 6 months when I put together a new computer). However, just because of the slowness of the order, I think I'll pass. 😉

STILL waiting for rear speaker stand prices and have been asking for two weeks. There definately needs to be better communication between VideoLogic and their only remaining distributer in the U.S. Overall though, a great value for the money!

I bought these speakers finding the deal on another website and they came in about a week from the date i ordered. i've had them for about 2 weeks and they're great speakers; like i've posted before, they sound much better than my roommate's klipsch 4.1's (his treble really squeaks at fairly loud volumes).
