Assuming the 3060 8 GB is just a BOM reduction and the 3060 Ti GDDR6X is just getting rid of excess 19 gbps GDDR6X.

Videocardz clams that these will launch at the end of October.

I'm shocked! Well, not that shocked. I guess this means it will be 6+ months post launch of the 4090 before we see any x60 class cards released. I've lost track does that now make two different 8GB 3060 models and a 12GB one? I see it will be 3 different 3060ti models.

Indeed, though of course they are well acquainted with AMD's plans for N33 (whether Q1/Q2 2023 or something else, I think they know their rival pretty well). Since many gamers will only buy Nvidia no matter what more mid-tier cards at decent price cards is probably not a bad idea (though they would have to be slightly better priced for their perf than what's curently available because otherwise there's no point)

A 128bit 3060 with 8GB seems very, very redundant with the 3050 specs. You basically get a few more CUDA cores and that's it. Maybe it'll be cheaper, but then you have to sell the remaining 3050 cards too.

It's 28 vs 20 SMs. Which is a pretty big difference. The 3060 12 GB is almost 40% faster.

Nothing at all. AMD already has cards out that can outperform NVidia cards at lower prices, but some segment of the market is going to exclusively buy NVidia GPUs and that gives NVidia no reason to cut prices.

I don't even get this at all because at that price the 3050 isn't even a good match against other NVidia cards. A 3060 can be had for under $400 and there are even some 3060 Ti cards going for $450 now.

It's really strange to be able to climb several cards up the stack and get better value for money while getting vastly superior performance as well. Even if you're limiting yourself to 1080p gaming you're better off buying a 3070 because it's still better performance per dollar than a $300 3050.

I have a hard time believing that anyone so price sensitive as to never pay more than $300 for a GPU would also be the type that doesn't even look at AMD. Are miners still buying these up or has NVidia cut new shipments of these that might explain the unusually high price for these cards?

Nvidia cut shipments to AIBs to effectively set pricing where they want it for the next launch. It appears that it is still going to take more than that to get people to move to AMD. Although if I'm being honest I think the AIB cards for NVidia are better looking cards than the AMD variants. For instance the EVGA FTW3 cards are Nvidia only. I've been holding out for either the 3070 to drop to ~300ish (which I no longer see happening) or the 3080 to drop below $500ish (which probably won't happen either). If they don't drop I will certainly be looking at AMD for my next card.

- Current Gen's XFX cards are honestly some of the nicest looking cards I have ever seen in my entire life bar none.

XFX has generally put out some really clean designs over prior years as well.

I'd generally say MSI (for either side) and Zotac put together some solid looking cards as well. EVGA used to be solid, but some of their current designs are just goofy as hell.

That current gen EVGA card with the weird offset middle fan that makes the card look like its curved is honestly one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. I actually underbid on those cards by a lot just because they're so damn ugly.

If you're looking at used cards, 3070's are solidly in the 300's and 3080's are solidly in the $500's which IMO is still a bit too much for used cards and they can stand to be $100 cheaper, but there you have it.

Perfect example of how looks are subjective! I like the clean lines of the XFX cards if I wanted to go that route, similar to the EVGA XC series. But I admit I kinda want a flashy PC this time! But a lot of cards try to look like they want to be integrated into a Lamborghini or something. I actually like the offset fan EVGA card with RGB!

But I'm holding out for a new card first. So my prices were for new.

After rebate, and I'll never trust rebates to be paid. Amazon has an XFX model for $250 no rebate BS though. 6600 XT being $350 if I don't want want an Asrock card is kind of garbage. If I wanted 6600 XT performance at $350 I could have just bought a 5700 XT in 2020.

- Yup. Midrange prices are still at least $100 too high across the mainstream segment for new cards. Lets see how that changes in the next couple weeks...

I prefer the look of the Nvidia Founder's Edition cards. Gigabyte AORUS, Eagle and Vision cards look cool. ASUS TUF looks like a tank but just like a tank, it seems pretty ugly.

All these card manufacturers launch the second most powerful card and a middle of the road card at the start and fill in the spaces down the road like each three months another two cards gets released. Sucks!
