Videocard Performance

I have noticed that in some games.. it lags in spots where it didn't lag... Like on Counter-Strike.. I shouldn't really get any lag.. but with a ATI Radeon 8500 128mb (I dont want to hear videocard upgrades because no money).. I get lag when the bomb blows up and I am close to it.. What can make your videocard performance slow down???

I have 1.67 ghz
256mb of ddr ram
40+ gb left on HD

For one thing, its not your video card preformance thats causing this. Its your all around system preformance that causing the lag. Not that your computer isn't powerful enough; maybe you need to look into your operating system. I.E , programs running that shouldn't be. Perhaps, Certain software recently installed. Try reinstalling you video card drivers.
It could be a number of things.

I'm a hard core gamer - I make sure nothing is running in the background of my computer "via msconfig" the more resources are free ..the better games will run!

Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up.. I will look into what I have installed and stuff... mostly I will re-install my drivers.

You might want a tad bit more ram
