Videocard Overheating - Suggestions?

Hey, my videocard is overheating everytime I start a videocard dependent game. I already posted a thread here asking about what could be the problem but now I know what the problem is. The cpu cannot overheat at 35 degrees celcius and my PSU is 450 watts so it's definately the videocard. I currently have a Sapphire 9600 that is about 2 years old. It has no fan on it - only a heatsink. What can I do so my computer doesn't keep on crashing because of the videocard? The weird part is that newer games such as Battlefield2 don't crash my computer. Only older games such as NeverWinter Nights crash my pc. Any suggestions for a videocard fan or something?

Sounds like a driver issue maybe. Go get the latest ATI drivers and see how it goes.

I got the the latest drivers though. I always upgrade the drivers soon as they get released.

why don't u get a simply fan? or u could take off the side panel and put a table fan in front of it to cool it down. what is the temperature of your card?

Only problem is that the place for the case is thin. I won't be able to fit a normal fan on it's side. Also, the side-panel is always open - I never close it. I got no idea what the temp of my videocard is - how do i find that out?

One more thing. If i somehow get the normal fan next to the case, should I have the air blowing in or should the air be blowing out? The cpu fan is right htere so I don't want the warm air from the cpu's fan to be blown right back in with the bigger fan. If the air is blowing out, the air-circulation won't be too much because I currently only have 1 air-intake fan - the rest are all out-take. Both could cause problems - what is the better thing to do?

u still there?
i think u must either think of a way fast if u want to save ur graphic card. Either get a water cooler but its way too unrealistic cos its just ati 9600 only but at least u should open the casing and blow a fan on it or install a gc fan.

Mine was a ATI 9600XT Extreme and it also keep freezing or shutting down on some games like rome total war but it play smoothly on undergorund 2. But i keep ignoring it and restarting the pc straightaway and play again. It goes on like tis for a year before finally overburn. Now its unusable. Gotta replace a new one.

Situation like tis is definitely graphic card overheating. It cant be driver problem/monitor refresh rates/motherboard. I keep posting on forums asking help about what is wrong a year ago and i was send on a wild goose chase until its too late.
