Whatever, that's just my opinion. Keep in mind the benchmarks you see on the Internet are often done with the fastest CPUs they can find.

Please get a real benchmark, those on Tom Hardware are messed up.

You can see on all those reviews that the advantage of the XT over the PRO can be between 8FPS up to 30FPS which is no slouch, but if you are willing to sacrifice performace for power comsumption so you don't have to buy a new PSU is understandable, I would do it if I consider those issues.

BTW, I think LG DVD burners are real silent. I have an LG H22N but those are kind of hard to find right now. It did a burn at 8x that was read by a BenQ DW1655 with no problems.

Two things I need: PSU, and CPU.


With all my parts total, including this, the entire cost comes to 1,250 shipped. with the 100 dollar PSU and 222 cpu, the total comes to almost 1,600 shipped. A little above my budget.


Which is more important: CPU, videocard, PSU?


I really don't like the 1,600 price tag, but if it changes the quality of game DRAMATICALLy...I can deal.


What are my options? *remember bf2 and bf2142 max*

You can find very cheap furniture in Wal Mart, I bought mine that cost me 100 bucks 5 years ago and still looking like new, it has to tables on top so you can put the printer and scanner there and a side table to put the tower.

Since you chose the X1950 XT, I'm still leaning towards the Blue Storm II 500 watts and you say you want MAX on BF2 so you're talking the Intel E6600.

Maybe the real problem is you need more money. Get a job at McDonalds or something and you'll have some extra cash. Maybe you'll meet a girlfriend there.

Maybe I'm confused...but when I add up all the parts that you have listed, including shipping and the part costs before rebates, I come up with only 765.22. Add 322 for the PSU and CPU and you're only at 1087.22...how are you coming up with 1600?

Even if you add an OEM LG DVD burner, you're still just over 1100 and have all the parts to build this thing. Add in an 8% tax and you're only at 1188.

It's almost 1,600 shipped with 6600 cpu and $100 psu.

All I'm stuck on is the PSU and CPU.

Look, I have a single core socket 939 AMD Athlon 4000+ San Diego core, X1650 XT, 2GB OCZ Platinum RAM and a Seasonic S-12 in my main rig. (My backup machine has a single core socket 754 3700+, Geforce 6600, 1GB Kingston HyperX and Blue Storm II PSU.
If you build a machine with an X1950 XT and E6600 will largely surpass my main rig and will outright beat the crap out of my backup machine.

The PSU is not something you want to upgrade all the time. I'd prefer getting one and sticking with it. You want to save money? OK, buy the cheap CPU and upgrade later to a much faster quad core. Then you should be happy. Unreal Tournament 3 will use all 4 cores in a quad core.

Otherwise, the faster CPU and more powerful PSU is a price to pay for more comfort later on. If you get those, you won't worry about performance later. The only thing to worry about is price.

Well, I think I already checked the RAM compatibility for you on the Crucial web site. And Gigabyte is a reliable motherboard manufacturer. So, you're prolly set to go. You can always google individual components and include the word review to see if you can find any interesting articles.

I don't know when I'll have time if I really wanted to check those out more thoroughly. I'm starting a new job tomorrow and I have some stuff to do so...
