Video streaming multiple sources suggestion

Greetings,

Not sure if this is the correct forum and if not, please point me in the right direction.

The idea
--------
Bascially to be able to have a single stream (justin.tv, ustream, whatever...) from multiple video sources and be able to switch between sources depending on the situation.

What I have on hand
--------------------
Wifi and RJ45 plugs everywhere to accommodate.
Camera's = Sony digital camcorder, iPod Touch 4G (Justin.tv app seemed to work), a couple Panasonic (non-ip) security cams (sorry don't have the model in front of me)

I figured I need some sort of video switch box for the stream and a method to get the cams on the network some how. Hoping to keep this project on the cheap as well.

Thanks a for your input!

You might want to look at some sites like video security sites. A lot of video security sites do not really stream. Often they take a picture and then if the image changes then they store another one. However, this is probably not at 30 frames a second. This depends if you want view video or to save the video.

Example: 4 Video feeds through one 4 channel wireless device.

There may be something cheaper out there.

It depends on the quality of the cameras, etc. Sometimes instead of a computer they use A DVR device.

In some states, recording audio and video is subject to wiretapping laws!

Sometimes they use a kind of 4 way split screen so you can look at 4 inputs at a time. How this works depends on if it is wired or wireless, and the number of cameras/receivers/recorders. This is not cheap.

Thanks for the reply piasbird.

Every year I host a gathering and I just thought it would be kinda cool to have a live stream of the gathering to those that would not be able to attend. I could aways just use my iTouch I guess but more looking to see what other type of solutions are also available.

Thanks

Did some more research and I'm wondering if I could use something like this to hook to my camera (video source) and then connect the receiver to the computer for streaming? If I have 2 or 3 camera's I would need some way to switch between or even have a side-by-side video. I think what I would need would be something like a tricaster but much cheaper than that. 🙂

Thoughts?

Thanks
