what was all that noise about Saddam Hussein being the worst dictator ever??

I never heard that he was the worst dictator ever... perhaps ONE of the worst is what you meant to say?

Someone in the administration said something to the effect that he was the worst dictator/leader ever prior to the Iraq war. We had a thread about it.

Link please?

from BBC.COM

It was the Pentagons Spokeswoman Victoria Clark who made the "worst leader in history" comment. Part of the incredible hyperbole coming out of the administration to justify the war in Iraq.

Pretty lame video - just shows a bunch of snow coved buildings, some guys carrying buckets, and a bunch of guys eating.

Mattter of fact if you took away the fence - you would swear it was a road constuction crew taking a coffee break.

Except for the snow it looks nicer then the cages from camp x-ray at Getmo.

I vaguely remember that. Saddam was no light-weight, but I can't ever remember hearing that Iraq used slave labor. NK certainly blows away Iraq (hell, any country now that I think of it) when it comes to concentration camps. Those poor people.
🙁

They're building character.

Ugh, that's just wrong man.

You must be joking???

Well to defend the comment to some extent, "leader" and "dictator" are not interchangeable and I would guess she made the comment in the context of a press conference in response to a question about Iraq.

She wasn't giving a university lecture about the releative strengths and weaknesses of every leader of every nation since the beginning of time.

Additionally the issue of N Korea is complicated from the point of view of the USA, particularly because there are at least 3 major powers that have even more at stake there than we do, Japan, China, and South Korea.

Did you notice the electric fence?

Kim Jong Il isn't the world's nicest guy, but I didn't see anything in that video that's particularly damning... don't plenty of other countires outside of the "axis of evil" have prison camps too? And aren't we in bed with some of them? *cough* China *cough*

Oh yes, and what about that one country that has even worse looking camps in Cuba... for those presumed terrorists... what was that country again?
