Video scrambled on bootup screen

I was working on a friends computer today,doing windows update and also installed PC Anywhere. During one of the reboots, the DELL intro screen became scrambled ( yeah, just like cable TV ). This continued into the Windows startup screen. when it got into windows it was fine. Tried reinstalling video drivers, Etc. Really wierd, any ideas?
