Video Resolution Resetting!?!?

Ok I need a little help...For some reason a while ago my video card kept defaulting to 800x600 when my computer boot's up.Wheter I set the reso in windows or the Nvida Software.But if I let my computer boot all the way p while the monitor is off then turn it on once windows is booted then it goes right to 1024x768 liek it's supposed too? Anyone else ever hear of this problem?
 
what kind of monitor are you using? it sounds sort of like your monitor isnt supposed to support the 1024x768 settings you are using and windows is pushing the resolution down when it boots so that you arent running at a resolution the monitor doesnt support.
 
using the same sony cpd220vs Ive been using since 1997!!! never had a problem...Jst happened after my latest reformat and can't figure it out for the life of me..I even ran the monitor at 1280x1024 for years! without problems.and have had it at 1024x768 for the past 2 years!
