I have been crashing after playing a game for about 2 hours right before i do textures start to just turn into colored blocks on the ground then my screen goes black with a little white _ flashing at the top left of the screen when i reboot it says either the drivers for the display adapter caused the problem or the display adapter was unable to complete a draw operation and suggests i upgrade my drivers i am using 45.23 from nvidia the video card is a geforce 4 ti 4800 se from msi my mobo is a asus p4p800 deluxe i have a 2.4 800mhz fsb and 1 gig of coirsar ddr 3200 ram i asked someone about this and they thought that the video card could be overheating i doubt this because i have 5 case fans and my computer sounds like an airplane one of the fans even blows right onto the video card is there any software i could use to monitor the temp on the card while i play a game? thanks for your help!

Edit: i am running windows xp pro
DX 9.0b
newest chipset drivers installed
newest sound card drivers
and newest bios for my mobo installed
also i had the system overclocked by about 600 mhz but one of my ram sticks died so it is running at stock speeds now with the ram replaced is it possible something else was damage as well? i changed the FSB from 200 to 250

If it works fine for two hours, it sure sounds like heat even though you have all the fans. What are the temps of the CPU and motherboard? You can see them in the bios or if you install the Asus utility or 3rd party utility like motherboard monitor they will display it.

Might be the thermal paste was not properly installed on your cpu too. Try running memtest 86 to check your memory also.

If a machine runs fine but after a couple hours starts to fail, it is usually heat.

I don't think a heatsink should be lose so if that might be it. Do you have another card you can substitute just to see?

I found and installed the monitoring software for my video card it seems kind of broken because it keeps turning off but when it was working it said the temp was about 45-46C and i am just idling right now havent done anything besides check my email

I would have to guess the RAM on the video card is bad.
(manufacturers are pumping out the Products so FAST that quality control
is taking a back seat).

Just because you have 5 CASE FANS doesn't necessarily mean
you have PROPER AIRFLOW for PROPER COOLING.

The AIRFLOW should come from the Front and exit the Rear,
so that the air FLOWS OVER the components and then directly out.

can i test the video card ram some how? also if my heatsink is lose could that cause problems with the cooling of the GPU? i have two fans in the front of the case that blow in and two on the back that blow out and then one on the side that blows onto my pci and agp cards thanks!

I have never been a big believer in the side fans, but
one thing is you should never BLOW AIR in from the side.

Having it vent out is less disruptive to air flow that way.
(pulling the heat away rather than forcing it back in)

If the HEATSINK is loose or misaligned, YES, if would have an
negative affect on cooling the GPU.
