Video Playback Problem

This problem is really pissing me off because I've tried just about everything that I can think of and it still does not work. What happens is this: Whenever I try to play video, whether it be in any web browser or any media player, my system freezes up and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill the process. This happens in EVERY program I try to view video in. I can't really pin an exact time on when this problem surfaced, but if I would take a guess, I would say about a little more than a month ago. That was the time that I got my brand-new replacement 6600GT from Chaintech. I installed it and it went off without a hitch. Before putting in my 6600GT I followed the good practice of uninstalling the old drivers and putting in the latest ones after putting the card in. It was then that I noticed the problems. I figured, heck, itm ust be a virus or malware. I then proceeded to run PC-Cillin, Ad-Aware, Spyware S&D and HijackThis, along with some other online scans. Nothing showed up. I repeated the aformentioned process 3 times. Still nothing. I tried different drivers. Nope. I think I may have to reformat and start over with a clean install, but I really don't want to go to all of that trouble and do so. Just a note, I have Windows XP Pro SP1.
