VIDEO: Plane scrapes wing during attempted landing in Germany

don't they usually design airports with alternate runway when the crosswind is crazy? Good flying though.

I have been in a plane trying to make a crosswind landing (and aborting) like that. Plane tilting, passengers screaming, the sudden roar of the engines, then 30 seconds later at 2,000 feet to a pin-drop quiet cabin, the pilot's voice over the intercom, "Folks, we'll be circling around in a few moments to try that again... "

craaaaaazy, and he took off again.

I've been told that the whole sequence is controlled by the computer, and the pilot is just there to make sure that the computer doesn't screw up.

Damn, you would think they would try to put it down instead of taking off again in case there was major structure damage.

heh, i flew online the day this happened and there was conveniently an even taking place at hamburg also with a lot of traffic. Luckyily no one was hurt...
