video pauses while watching dvd's

while watching dvd's on my computer, about 30 mins later the video pauses. it seems like its loading but it takes a long very long time. my dvd drive is 12x. would a 16x dvd drive fix my problem?
 
it happens to every disc, not just a specific one. also my computer is a 2.8ghz p4 i doubt its too slow to play dvd's 🙁 i also use powerdvd 5.0 if that matters.
