Video of SWAT Raid on Missouri Family:

Killed the family dog, found a little pot, therefor charged the parents with child endangerment. Not fun to watch, but people need to be aware that this happens every day in our Nation.

I think it's disgusting. But without any kind of back story, it's hard to have a stronger opinion. WTF were they suspected of doing, and why was it suspected? I feel sorry for the kids.

Edited because I cooled down. I'm still pissed, but no longer murderously so.

Is there any indication that the dog is violent?

Like that would stop them. What better way to intimidate a person then to bust into their house and shoot their pets?
I hope that kid grows up and molotov's a cops house at somepoint.

Why should it stop them? The cops are just doing their job. Who knows what that dog could have done. The guy should have answered the door when the cops announced themselves.

Maybe you didn't pay attention to the video, but it was at night. People have this habit of sleeping at night and don't immediately spring awake when someone pounds on the door. Guess cops are giant pussies who are scared of a corgi, cause they put a couple of bullets into one.

Don't let reality intrude on your authoritarian fantasies.

I know plenty a few cops and have had a handful of interactions with them (not for anything criminal, so maybe I'm biased). Overall, I have no ill feelings towards cops in general.

That said, no doubt some have this I'm-a-bad-ass quality and decided to render their stupidity on that dog. There seemed to be no cause for it on the video other than to show just how cool he was with his gun. The perp didn't resist and there were children in the home.

I couldn't care less what kind of a dog it was. It was a distraction that could've given those in the home to do something terrible.

The back story:

Columbia Tribune Story

A little more back story:
The home owner has a record with a few DUI's and a marijuana & cocaine related arrest. A CI informed police that he had a large amount of weed in his house. The cops considered him a distributor. They got a warrant to search the residence, then waited 8 days to execute the search.

The cops knocked, then 9 seconds later they shoot and wound the family's corgi. Next they proceed to the kitchen, where the family has a baby gate keeping their other dog, a pit bull, trapped in the kitchen. The cops shoot it once, then proceed to shoot it 3 or 4 more times.

All of this occurs in front of the wife and 7 year old son (police were unaware that a child was present).

Police, found a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana. The home owner plead guilty to having drug paraphernalia ($300 fine).

Also, possession of pot has been decriminalized in Columbia, Mo.

Yea, like sleep, those monsters. I guess in your eyes the hero cops should have just gunned down the entire family, lest their cries distract the police from their duties.

Kid's a distraction that could give those horrible pot smoking monsters time to do something horrible. Same principle, or lack of it.

Dogs are property. Human beings are not. If you can get rid of a dog, a creature you cannot expect to heed certain communication, better to get rid of it. A child is completely different and there are stricter laws shooting humans as opposed to property.

This. I could shooting see a pit bull, though this one was at least trapped in the kitchen. A drunken midget on roller blades could stomp a Corgi to death. That's not stopping a potential threat, it's being a terrorist because you know you can get away with it.
