Sorry for the newbie question

I recently put a new motherboard into a new case but used all old components(hd, cd, etc.)

My motherboard, AsRock p4v88, has no onboard video.

I have a pci video card (radeon 9200 se) which I put into the pci slot but I can't get a signal.

everything else in the computer is working fine to the best of my knowledge. fans come on, CD drive is responsive.

I'm sure there is a simple solution but this is my first time installing a MB. Please, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

a more general question...
how do you set up a motherboard with no onboard video? Is PCI plug and play?

Yes, but usually new notherboards have an option in the bios for 'first display device' or similar listing. EG:usually you have to actually manually set that for 'PCI' to get the PCI video card to boot most of the time, or it will only look for an AGP card.

Please describe the problem with more detail.

Do you see the BIOS/P.O.S.T. screen?

Does the monitor only show the amber light?

Do you get a message on your monitor about "no signal"?

I'm thinking your problem MAY be that you have just attached the old HD, with the previous install of windows. If so, the chipset drivers for the old mobo aren't gonna work for the new mobo. If that's the case, you should be able to see the POST screen (unless it's turned off in BIOS) and it will go blank on you when it tries to load the OS.
