Video my friend had to watch in Psych Class

To kill a puppy?

How much money would it take for you to kill a puppy in cold blood. Pretty intresting video, Interviewers go around asking people that very question. They are not talking about killing it because it is dieing or it needs to be put down. They mean straight up killing a puppy. I think its pretty interesting... Would like to see what people's reaction would be if asked how much it would take to kill a person.

I wont ruin it but lets just say that the people asking the question come back at the end with a surprise for the people they interview.

It would probably take a decent amount of money for me to actually do it. Id feel horrible. Honestly though, I have no problem swatting a fly and I think it might be easier to kill a human. Then again I think there would also be a better reason then just to kill the puppy. If it was attaching me or my family or friends or such it would be no prob. But for no real reason... I dunno...

NOTE: I did a pretty extensive search of Anandtech to make sure this wasnt a repost, however, search has and will be broken (prob for a very long time to come). I am sure there is a repost nazi who will dig up the original thread from 1997 just to show me up with his cleaver capital "R"'s.

She showed it to me because it was interesting. It made an interesting delemma (at least I think so). I imagine there is a good number of people that for the right price would kill a human. Killing a puppy though? It seems much worse and much more difficult IMHO.

That chick who said 50 cents was wacko. I liked how after they got the puppy, it showed her reaching for it and the guy said "You're not touching this dog".

For some reason watching a human die in the movies is less troubling to me than watching a domesticated animal die.

I couldn't kill a puppy.

really depends. how many can I kill? if I can kill more, it would be cheaper. I am not sure why those people will take millions to kill one. I would take any 2 figure numbers.

You would kill an dog for $10?

I lol'ed at the girl that said 3 billion, then probably to 2 billion, then yes when asked 1 billion and the dude that said $5.

Edit: Oh com'on! I don't see how killing a puppy would be harder then taking a human life.

The only way I would do that is if I got a lot of money, and I would use that money to help as many dogs that I could. Even then I do know know if I could do it.

There is no way I could just kill a puppy and use that money for myself, I would feel guilty the rest of my life.

See it doesn't bother me that much, I'm not heartless. I think it has more to do with growing up on a farm and when a dog gets old or disabled you don't take it to the vet and spend a bunch of money on it, you just shoot it and put it out of its misery.

To specify I don't mean its just old, I mean its arthritic and can barely get around and is just suffering.

That is different. I understand life and death. If the dog is going to be in bad pain for the rest of its life, I dont think I could allow it to suffer. The question is to kill a puppy, not put a puppy down. There is a purpose to putting it down, the question they are asking is based on what it would take to kill the animal when your only objective is to make money.

I think it takes an interesting twist when you think about people who kill a loved one to collect insurance. Or someone who keeps their dying mother around just to collect social security.

They didn't ask any farm boys in that clip. "kill a puppy? Sure, where is it...."

Indeed.

It's simply a matter of experience. For someone who's only exposure to death has been crying whena pet died it would probably take a lot, for someone who grew up on a farm they'd do it for free - Just like they have dozens of times before.

There is nothing inherently better about either, they're simply different.
