Video Lockup

I have just purchased a Voodoo3 3000 PCI video card. I have been playing Rogue Spear on the internet and with friends here at my university. Upon installing the video card, my video just locks up. I never had this happen with the old video card. I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del. and it says that Rogue Spear is not responding. I uninstalled Rogue Spear and reinstalled it to see if that was the problem. I have the most updated driver for the card. However after getting the driver and installing it i found a beta version on the 3dfx site. I installed that and all hell broke loose. I reinstalled the newest non-beta version. Does anybody have any ideas on what it would be or should i reformat to wipe out the beta driver completely???? Please help

you minght want to try an older driver, perhaps changing the slot your vid card is in. hmm, check with the makes of RS to see if there are any compatibility issues with your vid card (which i doubt)

Just to fill ya in so far, i have just changed the port the video card is in. While playing the game once again it locked up. I will try some older drivers and see if that does it.

Try the Vid card in a different PCI slot.

Make sure BIOS settings are set to recommend settings...IRQ for VGA, etc.

Another update!! I took out the card and put it in another pci slot and that didn't work. So i went to the extreme and reformatted. Once again it still locks up during the game. I tried to turn down the acceleration like creedog said and that didn't work. I left the case open after changing the slots and i have noticed that the video card gets hot. I know this would is normal and all but would it overheating cause it to freeze up. And for others that have the 3000 does yours do this. Should i get an internal fan to put inside the case or what??? Please leave some feedback
